Whois data on 757sex.com
 

Would Danger Dave, Linkster or someone good with tracing down this kind of data give me a hand at tracking down who registered 757sex.com recently? All I can find is "no match'

Chop, that domain is in the "redemtion period".

It has expired, but has not yet been released by moniker.com (the registrar). Different companies seem to have different ways of treating this, but I think it is about 3 weeks to a month.

I think you can buy it directly from them as well, for a price.

Thanks Alex. I am glad to see that it was not recently registered. I would swear, the day that my server was hacked a couple of weeks ago, that directnic said it was available. But I am probably wrong. I just find it strange that the combination of 757 and sex would be taken.

No problem. Actually the way some of the registrars do the checking for "available" domains means that you might actually se this domain as available, be able to go through the registration process, only to have that process fail at the last step.

There is no whois for this domain, not even a "see the registrar", which is sort of weird.

Chop - as far as why someone would want it - just about anything that can be thought of with sex in the domain is out there - that 757sex had some pages up on it back in 2003 according to archive.org - but they had a robots txt file that prevented it from being indexed so I cant tell ya what used to be there - last check by them was in Feb 2004.
I would imagine that someone might have had some pages going for terms like the mile-high club or something along those lines :)

My registrar gives me some time to renew if I forgot to do it. Domain is expired and down but only I can buy it. I can't remember for sure how long that time is but if I remember right it is one month.
