Anybody hear of 4dwebhosting? Got a strange letter.
So, I get an email today from this hosting company, saying they have just set me up with an account...
Problem is, I never heard of them, nor do I have an e-gold account to pay them with. I'm concerned some russian is using my identity to set up hosting, obviously for nefarious purposes. Anybody have anything good or bad to say about these people? This was the letter, I removed the password: #################### Welcome To 4dwebhosting #################### Hi, Thank you for your shared hosting order. never heard of them, but if I was Tommy, I'd log in every now & then & swap out some sponsor codes :D

Hmmm Could be a fuckup.. but I would suspect phishing of some sort?

Yeah, I thought it might be phishing too. I went to the page with full security on, it tries to do something with activex but since I have it turned off I don't really get to see what it is, and I didn't really look at it, just got off the page asap.
Its funny, I was thinking the other day how a phishing attack could explain how all these people are loosing their godaddy domains, by planting backdoors on known webmasters computers, and either sniffing keystrokes are maybe reading files or bookmarks on the phished computer. |
It's just people trying to get you to look for hosting. I got about a dozen of them all in a row.

That's a new one, thanks for giving us the heads up!

This is from their order page:
Due to the overwelming number of signups lately we are currently not accepting any new clients. Odd, huh? Something ain't right. |
