Political Correctness Drives Me Crazy
 

April is taking the kids to the circus tonight and I've been telling my 3 year-old about elephants, monkeys, lions and lion tamers, all the cool animals you get at the circus.

Today we find out that it's a human-only circus. Human only? Apparently, animal circuses are no longer allowed. Why?? Cruelty to animals! Oh fuck off!!

PC is about my biggest pet peeve. We've got to be nice to immigrants who hit and run our kids and get no jail sentence, we've got to let every black kid into college or we're being racist, we can't see sodding animals at the circus.

I think I'll go along tonight afterall. But I'm going to bring along a banner with me and I'm going to run around shouting "Cruelty to humans! Cruelty to People!"

In all seriousness, I might go tonight. Because if any of the male performers start spitting peanuts from their trunks, at my kids, well....there's gonna be complaints!

I'm sure there are many people who, as children, enjoyed watching animals perform, but are now totally supportive of animal-free circuses. I know I am. Some of the training methods were crude and cruel.

There are many other areas where animals are abused for peoples' entertainment. Dancing bears, for example.

Call it political correctness if you like. To my mind it's more a case of giving respect where respect is due.

Agreed, animals may have had a a raw deal in the past, I'm sure many grisly horror stories abound.

Tightening legislative controls, ensuring animals are not being mis-treated, this is the way to deal with the tradition of something like a circus.

You don't just remove the animals from a circus. You make sure controls are in place to ensure their safety and happiness.

It's like closing down the porn industry because of child porn. You stop people committing child porn, you dont remove all the legal-age, professional, "well-treated" models.

UTILITIES:

"man" pages are now called "person" pages.

Similarly, "hangman" is now the "person_executed_by_an_oppressive_regime."

This thread is too funny! It also explains why westerners are losing the war to these psycho child-killers : the powers that be are too busy kiss-assing to every hopped-up weirdo voter (present company excuded...i hope).

Take London. Over the years minorities in London have been screaming out for sodding mosks and taking over areas completely instead of "blending in" to the country's culture to which they emigrated. Now, in the Times newspaper, people are asking now that whites are the minority in London, can we have a few C of E churches, a couple of streets where English is the dominant language. Christ!

I have nothing against minorities. Being white and educated here I England, I'm a minority group. I just hope that now I'm a minority, and clearly totally off my head and whacked out, politiciens will start listening to my group : we'd like foreigners who come to our country to blend in, not take over; we'd like kids to read shakespeare in school; we'd like white kids to have the same chance as others when applying to college; we'd like to have angels and christ in public christmas decorations, and not have muslims offended by it; and ,yes, we'd like to have sodding animals in the circus!

(On another note, April says I should have gone...the female performers were in tight thongs, many of which I would have found "fit aparently. Sounds a bit cruel though...making those poor women into sex objects...)
