Any JD drinkers notice a difference?
 

I have been a friend of "Jacks" for quite some time now and only recently did I notice a "difference."

In an effor to find out what the f*ck is going on, I came up with the following:

Apparently, the distillery IS messing with a good thing.

If you're a fan of Old #7, sign the petition and MAKE 'EM change it back to the original proof.

Here is what I think has happened. Hank_MrSkin has drinked the entire supply of Black Label and is now working on the Gentleman Jack supply. Unless you want to resort to Green Label, I might suggest that you stock pile a few cases of what these non-southern owners of JD are now calling Black Label. |jester|

Judging from the lack of responses, obviously not many people out there drink JD...no wonder they f*cked with the proof.

Oh well...

Damn its been yrs since I drank No.7,WAY too much back in the college days.
That sucks they dropped it from 90 to 80.,jack and molson was all I drank for the most part or jack and ginger.
We did a 3 week camping trip lynchburg of course was a stop :).Dry counties suck :(
We went to the distillary and grabbed some white lable.Damn was that the smoothest 100 proof I ever had.
My GF got pissed at the other 4 girls and the one other guy.So we split jumped a grayhound to AC from Nashville
with a bottle of green and white 21 hrs later in AC hangover from hell haha.
I stopped drinking it in college when I jumped in a brawl and took on 8 guys(what was I thinking haha),
but being a bouncer at the bar I had lots of back up:)

Back in College/University, JD was like OJ for me...
today, A JD on the rocks w/a splash of Coke hits the spot...once in a while.

Funny how as you get older the less tolerance there is for just about everything that was once so normal.

For example,

I very rarely drink today. Back then, I was rarely sober.
Today, I am smoke free. Back then, I was air free.
These days, I get lots of sleep - everyday.
Back then, I slept when I could.

Funny how things change when you decide to grow up and re-prioritize life, huh?

haha well yeah and sheltered too haha.
We lived in 2 bedroom apartments 4 to a place,32 to a court.
Collect for kegs everynight average was 7 halves. then the bar til it closed usually 4am.
Typical summer party:
20 people punch party 6 fifths 151 3fifths of grain (used to soak fruit in)then mix up batch.garbage can full.
min 8fifths of jack using punch to chase it.
Oh and lots of drugs and to think I actually lived through those yrs and got a BS hahaha
Next day wake up use jack to kill hangover haha
Loved having friends come to visit they couldn't hang very long haha.

Just reading that brought a tear to my eye.

I just told a buddy of mine about this thread and he's actually floored about the whole watering down of Jack thingy.

My buddy has three statues of Jack, all of which he picked up at Jack's distillery. Not to mention over 50 empty 40's all arranged in chronological order of when he drank it, with whom, etc.

Ahhhh...see how important Jack is...and to think they are watering it down....

You know, there's been a lot of radio ads for JD lately up here - plus they're throwing a party before each Bills game if my memory serves me correctly.

I guess they think that the new 80 proof won't go over to well?

Is there that much of a differance in the taste? I haven't drank JD in years. Lately, I've been hitting the Skyy Citrus poretty hard & that's only 70 proof (like I need more anyway - LOL)

World of difference. Us Ole Farts that grew up drinking Black Label, have switched to Gentlemen Jack. Expensive but drinking it is nothing but southern confort.

If they want to introduce a trendier, less potent version to make it hipper with the youngsters, that's fine - go ahead and do it!
