Clickthrough Impression Counter Script
anyone know of a good free one, I have decent knowledge on how to install scripts on my server. I just cant seem to find one that does very basic stuff, like counting CTR's.
|
I just deployed PhpAdsNew ( www.phpadsnew.com ) for controlling my advertising, and it's the best thing since spread legs as far as I'm concerned. It actually serves the ads, does automatic mousovers on them, tracks impressions and clicks, and lots of other cool stuff. It's freeware, and if you've got Fantastico available from your host it's probably already in there for a one click install.

I just installed it, now im trying to figure out how to deploy banners =)
|
my server doesnt parse php, but I figured out how to post ads.
Mad Max, Ill asume you still make free sites, do you use phpadsnew to track your habits? Klove |
Make sure you have "deploy ads in frames" enabled in the main settings. When you select that option in "invocation code" the program gives you all the code for an i-frame that the ad appears in. I'm running ads on 3 sites right now from the same install of phpadsnew and it's running like clockwork. You insert the i-frame code on the page and voila, there's your ad.
I'm still kinda a newbie with the program, but I'm happy to give you any help I can. You also want to go to www.phpadsnew.com and take a look at the admin copy of the manual so you can set up your cron task for db maintenance. For a free site example go to This Page. Not my best work, but all banners on this site are delivered by phpadsnew running on another domain. |
as I have learned in another thread, IFRAME is usually banned from LinkList submissions (and script isn't too far behind)
|
I haven't seen them banned in rules lists. In any case if they were it would likely be due to their common use as a method of banner trading across networks, thus meaning someone other than the site designer controls what banners appear. In this case I control all the banners myself.
I would, however, be interested in hearing some opinions from other LL owners on this. There are other methods of delivering banners with the program, that method just happens to be the one I like best. |rasta| |

sad but true...:( DD |
I got it working another way, with php parsing, so no worry to get rejected because of IFrames.
DD I dont rotate banners on my free sites, would any LL have problems with using php parsing to keep track of my impressions/ctr's? |
I have been using phpAdsNew for quite some time . . . I figured I would put together a few things to help people get the most out of it.
Tip #1: Always use "HTML Banner" when setting up a new banner - this will allow you to create your own ad instead of using vanilla - banner only - granted you can have the text underneath . . . my results have always shown that when I can flex some extra muscle into the ad that it does so much better. Tip #2: Organization is key. Advertisers = Sponsors and Publishers = Your Sites. Set them up accordingly and you will be a much happier camper when it comes to analyzing stats and removing non performing ads. Tip #3: Learn to use includes. Method is your choice - I use php. Title the include after your zone ( ie amateur-freesite-small-odd.php ) and store these all in a directory on your server. Inside these files you will store the invocation code generated by phpAN. You do this so in case you need to change your invocation code you can edit just the one file and not the code on 100's of pages. Tip #4: Analyze those stats. When I add a new site to my advertising line up I add 4-5 ads for each size. After a week I will trash the 2-3 lowest ctr having ads. Then you are left to tweak the top two. Compare your ctr with your conversion sales and that is where the weight of the ads come in. If I think of anything else I will post it |
