To the LLs/DIRs owners
Hi everybody
Some of you may remember me from some months ago when I was trying to get as much information on free sites as possible. Meanwhile, I had a go at galleries building and made some cash from it. Now, with my own domain and paid host, I'm ready to build free sites. For the last days I've been reading dozens of submit rules and instead of trying to comply to different sets, I decided to use the basic: - index, tour, gal1, gal 2, links pages - no fpa, no consoles, no pics in html windows - 3 links per page I do use mouse over to hide my referrer's link to the sponsors but in a very straight forward way, no tricks, just like "www.sponsor.com". I have a list of some 140 LLs/DIRs I will start submitting my free sites and hope to be accepted at most of them. I know, for starters, some of you don't want the mouse over thing and others have very strange rules as, for instance, "content in the same folder as the site pages". This I can't do because of hot linking protection. Also my "links" page has a list of all the LLs/DIRs I will be submitting to and, naturally, links to all the sponsors I use. As far as I understand, this is good for SE ranking. I'm taking great care to have all my mirror pages in sub-folders, as I learned in this forum. All things considered, I think I'm doing as good as possible to satisfy everybody's "taste". I don't cheat and expect to be accepted this way. This is an example of the design/layout I will be using http://www.femdomfetishsites.com/sit...bdsm/index.php I hope no one will consider a picture of a topless woman as "hardcore" :) Will love to read your comments, preferably if to improve my design. Thanks Bert |
I'd list it, and my femdom category is pretty well wide open right now. Make sure you have enough templates that they only get reused every month or so and you should be fine. |rasta|
As for critiquing the site, you've got that 4th outbound link (dvds & videos) on the main page, and overall the design seems a little bland to me and the color scheme is a bit hectic with the black/purple/blue/beige tables. You'd probably be better off if you streamlined that a bit, probably by dropping the beige. Others might have some more specific things to say |

I'm afraid most LL owners would consider that an extra out link. But then again, this "links" page could benefit us all so let's wait what the others have to say :)

I personally wouldn't penalize you for the links page since it's on the same domain, but I suspect there will be a range of opinions on that. |
I never list php free sites.

Couple of things:
* You have 5 out links on your main page. "DVD's & Videos", vixenladies.com banner, "Finished with the galleries", amateurmatch.com hpa, store.fetish.sex-superstore.com. * You have an iframe on your galleries that goes to an external URL (banner exchange). Lots of LL's doesn't allow iframes. What would you do if the banner exchange decides one day to pop a dialer in that window instead of a banner which will get you blacklisted at the LL's? It's not a very good idea to have things on your site where you don't have any control over and that can ruin your reputation and business. * Are you allowed to hotlink the Amateur Match banner from Dating Gold? |
Overall it looks ok.
php is a bad idea, use html pages main page has too many links out, 3 max only |

Yes, I'm an afilliate with Dating Gold, that's my banner and code. I never thought the "Finished with the galleries" would be counted as an external link, since it's on the same domain. Will it be ok if I put it in the same folder, such as http://www.femdomfetishsites.com/sit...bdsm/links.php ? Will it not be counted as an "external" link then? The link "DVD's & Videos" escaped my control, will fix that right away. Thanks Bert |

I got the tip from here http://www.daves-web-help.com/web-si...inking.htm#li3 Forgot on last reply - You may have a good point in the iframe thing. Have to think some more on it. Thanks Bert |
Not sure what you meant with PHP hotlink protection, but it works to hotlink your pictures.
http://altlab.com/hotlinkchecker.php...ixen-34/17.jpg You also might wanna tell your hosting company to turn off directory browsing or drop an index.html file in the content dirs :) http://www.femdomfetishsites.com/pics1lyt/ |

Just checked the dating gold. Yes, that's the way to code the link. I think they do it in order to keep track of how efficient their banners are. Can you please tell me some more on this: "You also might wanna tell your hosting company to turn off directory browsing or drop an index.html file in the content dirs" Thanks Bert |

and there are many reasons we avoid php sites... and most will not be discussed in public.. mostly it is just unnecessary... and it appears it's not working for you anyway;( DD |

So, how do I prevent that? Simple. Every day I change the name of the pics folder. Anyone hotlinking would have to first, find the new name, second, do the same operation in his sites and that is just nor pratical, right? Bert |

If a site lacks any sort of personality or any other reason for a surfer to visit it then it must have: minimum of 20 pics (and minimum of 10 pics per page) no more than 3 banners/links to sponsors on each page a clear cut warning page without misleading "enter" links Notice it says if a site lacks any sort of personality...hence the 3 banners/links isnt set in stone. |

Thanks for the tip on the "lacks of personality ". Thanks Bert |
Anti-Hotlinker Mod Rewrite Script
If you have apache mod-rewrite installed on your server you can use this script to stop people from hot-linking your images. Consult your sys admin if you're not sure if you have mod rewrite or not. Put this script inside your .htaccess file. It will protect everything in this directory and below. The yourdomain and yourdomain.com should be replaced with any domains and ip addresses that are allowed access. You should always include the ip address of your domain into this script. RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions inherit RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yourdomain.com/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yourdomain.com*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yourdomain.com/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yourdomain.com*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yourdomain.com:80/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yourdomain.com:80/.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://yourdomain.com:80.*$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.yourdomain.com:80.*$ [NC] RewriteRule (gif|jpg|png|swf|mpg|avi|GIF|JPG|PNG|SWF|MPG|AVI)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/bad.html [R,L] |
