whats with LLs not allowing mirrors?

Whats with LLs changing their rules to not allowing mirrors?

even if you give them good mirrors with other sites of good PR rather than index213213.htm

for instance

nichelinks.

i just noticed that they dun allow mirrors, so since I've already got my main index reserved for the top LLs like richard, linkorama, penisbot, and etc. i had to take them out of my submit list

With mirrors they probably mean an index page in a folder that leads to another folder so the main page and gallery pages for all "mirrors" are the same ones in the same folder.
You shouldn't have a problem if you mirror the whole site (graphs and pics can be in 1 folder for every mirror). So put your index, main, gallery 1, gallery 2 always in the same folder and you should get accepted almost everywhere.

hiya pood :D
What fonz is getting at is instead of making a mirror page, you make a mirror folder, and you'll be OK at places that insist on the proper index page. Make a list of which LLs accept mirror pages, and which specify the real index page, and mirror entry pages or folders as needed :)

Yeah, just go with this explanation pood, mine is too confusing :D

I dunno Fonz,
Even that one looks confusing, too much use of the word mirror - 4 times in 2 sentences lol

What happened to it is it doesn't work anymore at a lot of places....they want to be on your main index page. The one that comes up when you type in the site addy without specifying the index.whatever.....

Which is one of the main reasons why I don't submit to so many places I started out submitting to in the beginning.

Those ARE main index pages.

No mirror folders, like this: domain/folder/ inside "folder are index.html, index.htm, index.asp, etc...

This is NOT my opinion

Some LL owners believe that by being on the folder "default" index.html (or other as specified) page they will gain a boost in the search engines. This is the primary reason why LLs demand index.html listings.

I could go on - but I'm not in the mood for a barney atm...

Carl 2004-10-06 01:23 PM

Why not upload the site twice with a different folder name?

Disk space is cheap and what are the chances the same person will visit the site on two different link lists to run the bw?

ack, yeah, i can do that, but it could use a little more bw. if a user goes to the same site from a different LL

ah well, i guess that probably won't happen that much.

I guess it's not faith but facts - each big guy (LOL) says he get more sales and site gets better (and constant) SE listeing if he don't use mirrors pages at all... so thats the reason of this rule.
It looks 'lil bit irracionally but I trusted them try working this way since some time.. So far I see no results but I belive it will come..
