Price of starting a LL
 

Hello,

After almost a year of building free-sites (and doing very well), I decided it would be
a nice thing to have my own little traffic-pump. For now it will be rather a hub or call it whatever you want to store my lesbian free-sites (I've done plenty of them) but still there wil be a submit
button for other people to submit their lesbian stuff.

The question is: how much should I pay for the software to get the things started ? I saw a banner here at GG&J with the prices
of installing a LL for me. Are these the cost of someone only installing the software for me or is it cost with the software ?

I'd like to hear some feedback from you,

You gonna have categories on this? Accept submissions?

If not, just do it by hand.

@GG Im going to take other ppl submits - im aiming to make it a niched LL.
Categories...hmmm, If you were going to make lets say a lesbian link list - would you make categories ?

I just spent $675 on a new script.There are far cheaper scripts that you can use.

Mostly it is just very time consuming running a list.

If you're going to be taking submits, then yes, I'd advise getting a script to run things. (if it was just a hub with your sites, then I'd do it by hand)

$675 is quite much money for me right now, so I'd choose a bit cheaper one for now.

the price for link admin script only is $400 or $150 ?
Also once I buy the script there is no limit of LL's i want to equip with it ?

money is nothing compared to the 1000s and 1000s of hours it takes to run it.. Link admin is easy to learn.. but its the only script I've used.. hell i am working on 20 more categories for mine and I gotta be nuts.. start small with a nich and there's always room to add.. I kinda started mine ass backwards should have waited till I had decent amount of money coming in from a nice amount of free sites.. But dumb me I started with 35 categories and slowed way down on free sites to get the LL going, so now a LL takes up so much of your time its hard to build free sites everyday like you should.. but I am glad I started mine when I did because as time goes on its harder and harder to get traffic interested in coming to your site.. and dont buy any traffic for it just wait and feed free site traffic to it and SE traffic will get to it .. And then you will be happy as I am |santa|

For about 6 months I had only mail form that was sending me e-mails with user submited sites and was adding each of them by hand. I really got bored with it after that time and decided to solve it somehow...
I really had no idea about php before but I read few tutorials and I wrote my own LL script which takes submissions, starts listenings with different letter each day, supports categories and blacklist, counts banner displays and clicks...
Well it took me more than two weeks to do that (as I said, I had no touch with php ever..) but now I'm really happy with it. Of course I didn't spend single dollar and I can edit it myself anyway I need.
I think it's good to challenge yourself from time to time so don't waste your time and start reading php (or other script) tutorials right now.. :)

Though it sounds like your beast is a bit more evolved then mine.

So, 1st one is $400, next one is $150, next one is $150.....

I see an inexpensive LL script being advertised in one of the button at the top of the board in rotation. Refresh the board until it comes up. :)

honestly, I dont have enough power to learn so much new stuff :( I'd rather explore google adwords deeper (which I want to do from about half a year) plus I never was good at coding etc.

Chances are that no matter what script you get you will want something better in the future.

I'm running Links SQL. They also make a non SQL version simply called Links. Links has a demo that you can install on your server and try out.

Also, although it sounds like you are looking for something more powerful, CECash has a free script that you can run. Its very basic, but does get the job done and doesn't take very long at all to get set up....

Hmm but in order to use it you have to be their webmaster?
If so, I cannot participate because they reject polish webmasters :(
