Double content penalty, what can I do?

A few months ago I put up a index.html file linking to 50 of my domains, and I was that dumb to put that file up on all 50 of them.
I didn't use them so I thought they wouldn't get spyderd anyway but I was wrong, I had a PR 5 domain in there and now all domains are PR 0.

Can it be that my whole server IP got banned / penaltized?
A few days ago I moved a PR 4 domain to my server and now 2 days later after the DNS change it's PR 3. Is that because of the double content penalty or the google dance right now?

I would really appreciate some help, thanks.

It's not possible to tell with the info you provided. But I tend to doubt that you would be zeroed out just for duping a page on a bunch of domains.

My first guess is that your server was down when googlebot went thru.

I hear lot's of 4s turned to 3s. I have a batch myself, mostly inner pages without a lot of link support. I guess this is one of google's "devalueing" updates.

were index.html is the only duplicate thing on all this 50 sites ?

if you promote same sponsors in same way from all 50 sites and you used same texts you can get penalized by google but i think Bill is right PR wouldnt change so quick just because you moved to another server

I changed the index files on all domains a few weeks ago and now all my domains are indexed again |bananna|

Then as Bill said... it is likey your server was unreachable... and it was in no way a penalty..

Penalties don't come and go.. :)

Hm maybe but my server hasn't been down yet I think.

Your server does not have to be down... it just has to be "unreachable" by the google spider.. That can happen for many reasons..

Remember also that "External PR" which is what Google now calls the PR you see on the toolbar - is completely different than the PR that really exists for the pages - unfortunately so many people were using the toolbar to base trades and linking campaigns that Google has made it totally useless :)
