Few questions to LL owners

Hi everyone!
I belive this could be my second post on this board, first one was when the board was just opened, and everyone was saying like Hi to everyone else.

I have been making some free sites for LLs now and then, and after some time of doing nothing, im back to building and submitting.

Now, i have a few questions.

1. I have my main email adress in blcaklist herehttp://bl.usefulscripts.com/blocked/ I tried to appeal for few times, with no result, so i just started to use email on another domain for submit to sites that declined my email. The reason for blacklist? 404 after submit. Well, that seems to be unfortunate co-incidence, i have my sites monitored for uptime by InternetSeer and longest downtime this year has been for about 17 minutes, not to mention that i NEVER delete my pages that i have submitted, even if they are no longer listed by anyone - they seem to get some SE traffic anyway.
Now, here is the question itself - if appeal is of no use, what are chances that i can get my email out of the blacklist?
In particular, email shows as blacklisted for Emerald of SmutGremlins.

2. Why i have funny feeling that my submissions are not even seen by some of the biggest names? I mean, i get listed in middle sized LLs, sometimes even on the spot, but im yet to see a single hit from largest LLs?
Is there something i dont know?, like filtering by submitters IP or something? The funiest thing is that i get no error messages, just submit, and thats it - no confirmation emails, no rejection emails, no traffic either?

Mmmm - that would be just about enough asking for the first time:)

Probably so...

Zel - If you havent done anything wrong then Im sure you will be taken off the list - the guys around here seem to operate preety qwikly and fairly so I'm sure it wont be too long b4 someone responds to your post.

However if you have been a bad boy then dont hold your breath :)

Um, well, i think i explained that already, but let me repeat once again.

Im not a cheater, scummer or other shithead. I play by the rules, but sometimes i (like everyone else on occasion) make honest mistake. In this case it seems to be force majore kicking in (i CANT predict server downtimes!).

Thats why im posting here :)

Zel, there is a huge difference between "sites are down" and "sites are 404". A 404 error means the domain was up, but the site you submitted no longer existed, and went to your 404 page.

Everyone has server downtime, but it is VERY rare for server problems to remove sites but not domains.

With all due respect!

Alex - you DO list my sites, as everyone else does. Im not flagged as cheater, spammer or anything else wrong-doing-bastard. Because i just aint, ok.

As probably most of the webmasters i have some stuff in .htaccess, that includes 404 errors, so you dont get empty page but are moved to spme page on same domain/server.

Now, im getting a feeling that i should be feeling guilty for host downtimes. Cmon guys and gals - am i that misworthy to speak to you?

Id rather be going on without complaining, less attention by the big guys and gals = less pain in the apropriate place in the backend |sad|

Greenguy 2004-10-14 04:50 PM

zel - like Raw Alex said, if the host is down, the link would give you a "do dns" error message & no one blacklists for that.

A 404 error means that the page on your server is no longer there & that is a blacklistable offense in pretty much everyone's eyes.

Understand?

As for part 2, if you on the blacklist & major link lists use that blacklist, that means your submits are not getting thru.

Post your email addy & I'll look on the blacklist & see what I can find out :)

Mmkay, the email in question is zel AT tritijs Dot com.

Well, thanks for the explanation of that 404 thingie.
Let me know, what have i exactly done wrong. As i said, it was not intentional in any way, but screwups happen sometimes, right:) Especially when i have had too much beer, lol

Thanks in advance!

Greenguy 2004-10-15 08:50 AM

Zel - I'll get it off the blacklist today - I don't have info on what site caused the 404 as it was about 5 months ago & my data doesn't go back that far once we delete them.

Thank you very much!

Now, wish me luck, so i dont screw up again :)

zel - if its been a while since you submitted - you might want to check the rules for most of us - we dont allow counters on free sites - especially the javascript type that you have on your main page

Ann Omness 2004-10-16 12:18 PM

Linkster, I've been curious about the "no counters" rule. What's the reason for that?

Linkster 2004-10-16 02:04 PM

Ann - some of the counters have some very nice trojans and toolbar installs if a surfer clicks on it - for the visible ones

the hidden ones - like in this case - use javascript - which since that is not allowed kinda rules out the java counter - so we just made an overall rule of no counters - we always had the no java rule - but we kinda let the counters slide until the hidden counters started playing games with international surfers - some had geo detection imbedded and sent our surfers to dialers and other junk when they surfed the free sites

Umm...Thanks for letting me know. I guess i need to think about that. Actually, conter in NOT Javascript, counter itself is on my own server, and is PHP. It is written by Tom of tomsnewbiebooster.com, and...umm well, i guess i will have to speak with him about it.

Have been using because , well, lets say it - my server stats deserve to be better. There is all kind of junk info i dont need.

As to rules - yes, i havent been submitting for a good while, and as far as i remember that rule was for 3rd party counters (like Sextracker etc). Things change :)
