What/where is the best tutorial on making free sites that sell and meet LL requirements? Any examples?

Any tutorials on ad placement for top click-thrus etc?

Surf some link lists and look at 100 free sites that they have listed. Write down what caught your eye, what made you read what they wrote etc.

Then try it on your own free sites. Do not copy. Learn from your research and then apply it to your own style.

I do surf sites for input, but there are others with much greater understanding of what sells than I.

Well, thast going to be difficult, because, you will have to follow your OWN results. What works for me, not necessary will work for you, and vice versa.

Try different layouts, try different sponsors. The major word here is TRY. Eventually, you will find your money pot - basically there is no single right way, there are gazillions of them.

In my experience - ugly sites work better, LOL. Those that use balck background, yellow and lime colors, etc. Like they have been made 10 years ago, hehe :)
Not that i make all of them like that, but ya have to realise, that there will be only one right way for you - YOUR way.

Here is one that I made like I interpreted your suggestion. Ugly, simple, like it was built awhile ago. Is this the idea?

BrianXXX - aside fromthe broken recip images, you should realy look at your pages at different screen sizes - you look good at 800, but it gets strange looking when you go to 1024 or 1152 :(

Hey Brian, don't make your table width 100%. Stick with width=750 or less. That way your sites don't fall to pieces on larger screen resolutions, but look good at 800.

The recip table is incomplete. Gotta customize for the niche, hence pretty busted up.

OK, I reset the tables. Is there a GOOD tool for viewing pages at different resolutions?

In Homesite you can preview a site in 640x480 and 800x600. Otherwise you can always just change the resolution on your screen.

Don't use Homesite :(

Years ago I had a viwer that did this. There were several, but only one worked well. Dang if I can recall what it was!

The 2nd page is now left aligned & the gallery pages are still "off" at 1024 & 1152 :(

If you think about it logically. People who use 800x600 are more likely to be leechers. Here is my theory...

Ok most 800x600 max resolution comps are atleast 3-4 years old. My dads old comp from 4 years ago had 1024 max resolution. People with computers that old tend to be cheapskates IE wont upgrade there computer to get with the times :-) thats my theory. Anyway, my tables normally are about 750 wide and centred so i dont have to worry. 800x600 are in the minority anyway :-)

I think it's actually the opposite. My folks also have a couple of years old computer, which was on 800x600 default. Some time ago they complained that they couldn't see all sites properly on their computer, so I told them to change the resolution. "Change the WHAT?". So I did it for them next them I was there.

So I think it's the less tech savvy people that are still on 800x600 or only have a computer to email people and when the old lady has gone to bed - surf for porn. The people that have no clue what a TGP, link list or AVS is. When they type in "PORN" (the caps-lock was accidentally on when the computer was delivered, so they think all computers type like that) they always end up at a place that charges $29.95 - free PORN doesn't exist, so they think.

Ok, I went a little overboard at the end - but my basic idea was there ;)

Cheapskates = more tech and Internet savvy, they know where the free porn is.
