Q for LL owners
Is it generally accepted to use mouseovers to hide referrer code on sponsor links as long as the URL is clear? I've been doing this and get accepted quite a bit, but I want to make sure I'm as close to 100% success rate as possible. By the same token, is there anything to be gained from doing this in terms of better conversions?

No problem for me and most others. Some surfers distrust links with ref urls in them, so I always use mouseovers on my sponsor links. Just make sure you're showing the destination URL without your sponsor code and the status bar returns on mouseout and you should be fine.

I haven't done any scientific tests if you get more or less signups if you show the "real" linking code.
But when I switched ALL my linking codes to go through Sponsor Organizer (http://www.domain.com/out.php?s=192 - looks pretty much like a regular linking code) I did not see a drop in signups. |
Lemmy - I allow it & have done it myself for years - I have to think a surfer would be more inclined to click on a link that said http://www.pornstardreams.com/ instead of http://refer.ccbill.com/cgi-bin/clic...tardreams.com/

Good to know that I'm (probably) not pissing anyone off and also that this minor effort isn't (again probably) a waste of time. :)
