Do you update your paysite manually?

Im looking into a solution to eliminate the need for manual updates. What content management system do you reccomend? I'm looking into SiteDepth but hoping to talk to some people that has some experience with these guys... Any feedback or alternatives appriciated! Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for a serious CMS which will handle with ease unlimited domains, either sharing content between them or not, check out MAS from Mansion Productions - http://www.mansionproductions.com/mas/

The newest build has just been released, and it includes a very nice feature which could save you more than $3000 and add more value to your sites.

SirMoby 2004-10-29 06:05 PM

I've been using AWiz http://awizsoft.com/easy/ for just over 2 years now and been handling daily updates. In June I had a some custom work done and a few mods that make it very easy to handle Babe oriented sites which I think you do.

If you want more info I'm happy to meet with Raven Riley and fill her up. |jester| Seriously if you do Babe oriented sites I can show you what I've been doing at http://hungarianhoneys.com

That's weird that you're using a TGP script to update your paysites? Or did you just post the wrong link? ;)

Anyway I am using aWiz too.....But I'm using their paysite software. It's cool, but I wish it managed videos and not just pictures:

http://awizsoft.com/paysite/

Also their script has 3 different free plugins they just added:
1. "add to favorites" feature where members can save their favorite pics

2. the ability to rate pictures and it will display the top rated pics wherever you want

3. free password theft protection. It will disable people using the same password on several IPs (although I don't use this feature, I prefer StrongBox)

SirMoby 2004-10-29 07:34 PM

Yeah, yeah, so I posted the wrong URL.

Ross, this is the 2nd time this week that I've seen you mention a special feature that can save me $3,000 and I'm interested but you don't mention what that feature is and when I go to your website it starts talking to me so I leave before I have a chance to read about it.

Feel like providing some information?

R0ss 2004-10-29 07:52 PM

Sorry about the sound fx, designer's choice. I'll add a mute button there, thanks for the feedback.

About the $3,000 saving - these are worth of content, courtesy of Full On Video. If you purchase MAS, you will be able to utilize all plugin video feeds, and use them for free for 45 days.

Read some more info here http://www.mansionproductions.com/mas/whatsnew.html - no sounds!

That could be cool. What happened to Content Mansion? If I recall there was some pretty good stuff in there but I just never got around to buying it :(

i have been using Site Depth daily with many of my clients and they all love it. We actually have a deal with them now that if you go thru us to purchase the software, we will build your members area for free. we will be posting more info about that deal in the next 48 hours, but hit me up if you have any questions about SD that i can answer for you.

We built our own backend for the entire group of sites we have. If you have any interest in a custom backend in either php/.NET/.asp drop me a line.

very nice script!!

emmanuelle 2004-10-30 07:21 PM

We have 11 paysites, each with a seperate member area. Last year I had my programmer write a back end, as it was becoming impossible to update each site manually several times each week. About 1/2 are switched over, and we're slowly converting the others to work with the scripts. (I HATE grunt work)

Having something created just for you is often less expensive than some of the boxed solutions, and it is specific to your needs :-)

I purcahsed a copy of that. They installed it on my server and never once was it able to display a single page. IT DON'T WORK!

I built my own CMS using Visual Basic, ASP and a database. Really helped me get orgainized. The ASP only took a short time, it took me along time to populate the database.

Just finished improving the 2257 data for each set and that took awhile.

What I like about the CMS is that it really improved my productivity in building free, avs, and tgps. All my content is organized.

Built a pay-site with a new gallery daily, new weekly streaming video, and new weekly story where the content is new for a year then recycles all automatically, but never launched it. The code works fine but my site design skills are not very good.

I posted this same question on a different board. I have talked to the guys at SD very awsome. Took a lot of time to answer my dumb questions. I'm just curious as to how user friendly it is. I've purchased other solutions but was never able to get them to work. I have a tgp site and I have no trouble getting those scripts towork or gossmar threads that worked fine.

I can't find another other solutions that can manage both video and pictures. and they didnt give you a lot of options on the layout of your paysite's members area.

AutoGallery SQL gives you complete control of your layout. I would love to hear from someone that used both AutoGallery SQL and Site Depth to compare the ease of use.

We closed down ContentMansion.com during a time we were too busy with other projects.

Projects that have brought en EXCELLENT CMS in MAS and in MPA3 -

Hit Ross or myself up any time to talk business.

We still do updates by hand.... since we shoot all original content, and are usually getting the pics resized, and touched up or the raw video put together with fades, and then turned into WMVs up to the minute it's time to update them I don't see how a script could help out at all.

Now if I bought premade content and could just dump the months worth into the script then I could see how it would be a life saver.

rtv 2004-11-09 10:46 AM

We use custom software made for us for price much less than $3000.
As for resizing pictures server software will never become a good alternative for photoshop with its conFigurable sharp filters & web export function.
So original content demand on hand work.

R0ss 2004-11-09 12:09 PM

The main goals of a CMS like MAS is not to resize pictures or extract blind thumbs from videos (although it can do it). There is nothing best than human touch if you have the time to do it.
However the main power of the software comes after you have pre-processed the photos and the videos. You don't have to deal with filenames, or create simple-looking galleries with some local software, then copy&paste html to create a better-looking gallery.
You can use the same content to appear in unlimited number of sites and members areas - all "dressed" in totally different layout.
You can describe your content with sophisticated categories and attributes, making it easier for you as a webmaster, and for the members to search and find what they want.
You can organize different photo and video sets in groups, creating "model portfolio" pages.
You can track usage stats, give your members the tools to rate and view the top rated ones, show them whats new and sneak preview whats next... and that's not all.

All this is a REAL timesaver, and some things you can't do by hand.

Not to mention, that after you have a site ready and setup with content, all you need to do to open a new site is just order the design templates. It will take you not more than a day to publish the new site live - and prefilled with content.

And finally - why risk to order a custom-made script from developers you don't know and spend hours and hours babysitting the new project until you make sure everything is done and working as you wish? The better choice is to get a product with a solid reputation, which have been tested and bugfixed by a number of customers with similar needs like yours. And rely on 24/7 support crew who will look after each issue you might have.

And I don't say this because I'm related with the company. That's just the smarter way of thinking these days.
