This embarrasses me but what the hell
I'm sure I'll end up slapping myself on the for head while muttering "Duh"
I overwrote a file that I really don't want to redo I get the bright Idea to just go to my recycle bin and un delete one of the earlier versions of the file I can't find my recycle bin the logo is no longer on my desktop It doesn't show up when I search and the help section just tells me to go to the desk top icon how do I find my missing recycle bin? |
Did you try going to your directory listing? It is usually on the bottom :)

The trash is always in the Dock. You can also do a search for the *nix directory .Trash with show hidden files turned on using the Finder's search.
You can also use the Terminal cd ~/.Trash Then type ls -ln to show a list of files in the trash. You can also use the Finder's Go To Folder Menu (Shift Command G) .Trash Go Oops wrong OS… |couch| |
the recycle bin is also located on the desktop. right-click, auto arrange.|waves|

If you use Norton try looking in the "Norton Protected Recyle Bin" folder - you should spot it easily in windows explorer.
