I don't expect to see an official update for another 2-3 months.

My theory is that google does actually update the pr, but that it doesn't update the toolbar, in order to combat se spammers.

thats intresting but what about google's directory ?
if google updating the PR should it bee seen thru
http://directory.google.com ?

This last time the directory showed pr changes about a month before the general update.

And, there were frequent reports of small, isolated pr changes, none of which I could verify personally, and about which I am fairly skeptical.

I don't watch the directory hoping to see signs of pr change- the change will come when it comes. For all I know the directory is showing pr changes now- although I think I would have heard about it if it was.

But I for one don't expect it to happen anytime soon. I think it's clear that google is trying to discourage pr linking, by reducing the amount of information available to people like us.

thats good to know thx
but what i dont understand if google trying to hide some info why did they started to show the PR from the beginning how could they excpect frome people not to use this information :)

I think it was just the Law of Unintended Consequences.

The engineer culture of google, trying to practice "don't be evil", originally thought it would just be a nifty feature for their toolbar.

Now that it's clear that it's only being used to violate their terms and conditions, I think they are slowly crippling it, first by destroying the value of the backlinks display with their "random selection", and now by delaying public pr updates.

as i think it would be best for all just to cancell it insted of delaying the updates they make it very hard for us to promote our sites its not fair

Yes, I do.

But what matters is where my sites are in the SERPs and not their PR.

Leon 2004-11-03 01:58 AM

what exactly is the SERP ? i sure i know what is this but not in this term

Rocco 2004-11-03 11:13 AM

I don't expect a pr update for the next 2 months...

neither do I know exactly what "SERP" means - but maybe this site can tell you more:

SERP is Search Engine Results Page.

It's an acronyn that means the page of listings that the search engine generates.

When you are looking at a page in google after a search you are looking at a SERP.

ahh thats good to know thanks Bill ;)
