How do you organize your ll's?
Do you use any program / submission software for it? Like AS, DS, CS - and which one?
Do you add the link lists for each category, for example if you submit anal sites and hairy sites: linklist.com_anal linklist.com_hairy And how do you group them? By the amount of traffic they send you, PR or popularity? |
Fpr the most part, autosubmitters are frowned upon by Link Lists.
I'm not sure what the 2nd part of your question means :( |
I submit using Roboform. GG, what's FPR?

OK, I admit it -- I'm not that bright. What's west of the "p"? :)

I got it, I got it! lol Ponygirl |
West of "P" - I like that :)
And I have fat fingers :D FOR |
Well I don't mean autosubmitters. I mean submission software.
Advanced Submitter does only help to fill in the text, of course you can auto submit with it but I just want to know how you organize it all. Almost every link list requires a category recips so that means you must build your database for each category again, no? |
And I thought it was a wonderful piece of software. :D

IMHO if it's a program or script that does part of the submitting for you, it's an auto submitter - how long does it take to copy & paste the title of the site, URL, recip location & description?
|
I have seen a couple of partially automated submission systems that I really do like.. they required the webmaster to visit each submit page... but helped them manage recips, copied fields to forms automatically, checked their spelling, managed a history of their freesite submissions and generally made hand submitting much faster and better for both parties.
Anyone who uses these know the names/urls of good ones like I that? |
Exactly Opti! I can't imagine that people still use copy and paste in 2004?
My favourite submission tools are Advanced Submitter and Dream Submitter but have heard good things about Chameleon Submitter too. Greenguy, what's wrong with those programs? I'm from the mgp world and almost every submitter there uses one of those programs and they do not only auto submit. It's a real time safer so why do link list owners don't like submissions with those programs? I honestly can't see any real reason for this. |
Hmm... Jeka, Do you play real time strategy games?
|
If you start using autosubmitters for LLs, they will close down the submitarea and have partner accounts only.
Just take a look at the TGP scene where you have to pay for partner accounts and almost all good tgps are closed for public submits! If people get their hands on autosubmiters, some of them will abuse them and destroy everyone else´s chances of getting listed. Do you want that to happen to the LLs? I say NO! Enjoy the free world of the LLs! |rasta
Well that's the problem, if some dumb people / cheaters abuse those great programs, honest submitters like me get punished for that.
So I have 2 questions. How should ll owners recognize if I copy paste that information or use a submission program (NO AUTO SUBMISSION -> EVERYTHING GETS CHECKED BY MYSELF ON EVERY SUBMISSION PAGE!!!!!) ? And second how do link list submitters then work? Back to my original question: How do you ll submitters organize your submissions? |horse

You are likely very familiar with these, but I use GASS http://www.darksoftcomputers.com/gass/ in conjunction with RoboForm http://www.roboform.com/ I would say that combo is a submission assistant. GASS makes the mirror pages, and I use custom fields in indenties of Robo Form to fill out forms. I still have to manually click every thing through and check for accuracy, select categories, etc. And I don't use it for LL's. I have tables built in Dreamweaver of recip groups that I use together. |
The reason that most LL owners dont like the AS etc type (although I agree they do just open the submit section) is that they bypass the rules page - as well as any advertising that WM may have for submitting WMs to look at - its purely economic and an issue of why do I bother having a rules page if no one looks at it.
Try to look at it from the LL owners POV - they spend a lot of time thinking of rules that will allow the good submitters to submit quality sites, while trying to weed out the idiots that we spend 80% of our review time on that are a waste |
You can add the rules into AS aswell. That's what I do, when a site has special rules that are not common I put that into the database and everytime I visit the submission page those rules show up in the top of AS field.
I also never click on any webmaster advertising link when I submit galleries / sites. |
Jeka - exactly my point - the AS stores the copy of the rules from when you copy them - but you never see them get updated, which happens on a regular basis at most big LLs - therefore when you submit a site that say is using sponsor content, and the LL no longer takes sponsor content - then you have just been blacklisted at many large LLs - it happens all the time around here
As far as not joining programs under other WMs - thats up to you - most of us have a little degree of the feeling of community and therefore we kinda scratch each others backs - its kinda our way of saying thanks for some of the helpful hints we give each other and a terrific way of networking and showing that we appreciate each others hard work. |

Thanks Selena.. that combo has the kind of functionality I meant.. not the exact application I was shown though.. and Ive no idea of the name now. The guy paid $90 for it if that helps jog anyones memory. |

I find that very annoying, a submission page is for submissions and not for refering webmasters in my opinion. If someone helps me on a board or in any other way like on icq then I'm more than willing to join under another webmasters id. |
I've found many a good program/sponsor from a submission page that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. I've clicked on the link, and signed up, even if I've never had any contact with the webmaster I'm submitting to, other than submitting my sites.
The way I see it, I'd not have heard of the program if it wasn't there on the submission page, and that webmaster has actually helped me out by alerting me to a program I can make money with. JMHO. |

And while some do use the AS to just make the hand submitting a little easier - remember that most (99%) that use them cheat us every day - so we react by taking out the cheaters by simply banning AS - which is in most LL's rules - and since someone that uses one is breaking the rules, they will get BL'd from submitting to allow the WMs that do follow the rule to get through. |
