internext 2005 vegas

am thinking of going after being in biz for 10mnths w mixed success. a good idea? contact/info wise? looks like gg isnt going or isnt listed as an exhibitor.

Ramster 2004-11-08 06:22 PM

Going to a show is always a good idea. Meeting people will only help you overall. However it is good to make friends via the boards or ICQ beforehand so you can hook up with a few people while there or you'll get lost.

Exhibitors are mainly big sponsors, content providers, cc processors and such and are very rarely webmasters though you do get the odd webmaster board doing it but not many.

RawAlex 2004-11-08 06:24 PM

If your planning to go, put together a plan of the things you want to accomplish: Finding content, programs, partners, whatever. Keep your ears and eyes open and meet as many people as you can.

Bring business cards (I often forget), and be ready to actually do business.

It's all good, but you have to work it to make it pay.

I would expect that GG is going ( actually Im almost postitive) and Id watch this board for some announcements as the show gets closer as normally the members of this board do have some special get-togethers and some really great opportunities for networking

Trax 2004-11-09 03:55 AM

Vegas will be a great show.
You should def. go if you can.

adamneve 2004-11-09 05:46 AM

i recommend everybody should come, these events are great for learning, networking, and getting drunk |pissleft|

I was actually just wondering if we were going to have a board party this year. Last year quite a few of us all chipped in and had one, that would be great to do again this year, and I would be up for supplying some $$$ again this year as well. Since its GG&J's board I will let them run with it if they want to do it, but as I said I would definitely chip in again this year.

I really don't care for how Internext has evolved at this stage in the game - however, that being said, the Vegas show is the biggest expo of the year and always draws a huge crowd. The best part is that there is SO much going on - hospitality suites, networking dinners, special board/site/sponsor parties, etc. Really, the booths and organized show events really have become sort of secondary to a lot of people - it's BEING THERE that counts.

With 10 mos in I would say that you should definitely go - and you've gotten a lot of good advice here about business cards and such... also - you don't HAVE to stay at Mandalay Bay - there are lots of other cheaper choices around town to consider, and flights to Vegas are always a good deal - they like to get gamblers IN town so it's usually WAY more affordable than the Florida show.

Re: GG having a booth - I don't think he ever "had" a booth even when he was associated with that resource that "had" a booth (we tried chaining him to it, but he's such a free spirit) - he's usually out walking the expo floors, hanging out in the suite or (shhhhhhh) sitting at a slot machine - lol

A board party would be cool - would love to meet more folks from GG&J - lots of cool people here!

I'll be in Vegas... about 20 days after thje show has ended, maybe some of you could stick around for a while :D

I'm staying at the Excalibur, hope this place is worth it's money :)

Greenguy 2004-11-10 08:48 AM

I love the conventions for pretty much all the reasons mentioned above - I get to see people that I "talk" to here on the board & on ICQ on a daily basis. I get to meet new people. I get to tak face to face with advertisers & sponsors. It's just a really good time :)

Throw Vegas into the mix & well, I have a credit line already set up at Mandalay Bay :D

Bell 2004-11-11 11:15 AM

I think you'd love it... and hope you do get the chance to go...

I went last year Jan 2004 Vegas - sponsored by WEGCash.com

I had a blast...

I went to the Expo in Florida in
Aug. 2004 sponsored by:
PrideBucks.ocm
the GWW folks and
CuriousCash.com

I had a blast...

I am not sure yet if I get to go to
Vegas - Jan. 2005

still waiting to see if any companies will need help there or elsewhere in exchange
for the sponsorship in whole or in part...

it sure is fun networking with all of you at the events... I spend more time
on the floor and networking at the parties than gambling though... although
sometimes webmasters like to go do the gambling thang and I don't have a
problem going with - to keep them company for a bit... I love meeting new
people and hugging old friends...

I think the Vegas Expo will come at a great time - we are all OVERDUE for a
break... I know I have been working my fingeres to the nub ... and will be doing
that more and more gearing up for Vegas...

it's been a couple weeks since I checked - but the package I selected including
round trip air fare from OHIO for the event (and hotel of my choice) was going to
run me $1300

time will tell though - if I end up getting enough (work) $$$ to be able to go...

I hope to meet lots of you there...

I've been to 3 of them..this year will be 4. and the 1st 2 were before i was even "in" the biz.. i just went because i thought it was interesting and wanted to see how the "net porn" worked. and i lived in Vegas so it was easy.

the "swirl" is def. more important, in my opinion to the show itself. I think that is why they make the show so very $$ for registration for the expo, since they know most WM would only go for a couple of hours if it was less money but when you spend 150-200 just to go to the expo, you are more inclined to actually go to the booths which the booth owners paid big $$ for.

I am actually trying to organize a pre-expo party at the Palms. We have about 7 cam girls that will be here for the GOTI party but prior to that maybe having an autograph session in the sportsbook at the Palms. They are very excited to be included this year even if on the fringe. I would think that once they add onto their pavillion, the sponsors of Internext and AVN will be taking a hard look at moving it all to the Palms.

Maybe we can twist MML's arm to organize at BBW gathering.. there are perfect spots in Mandalay bay for it, and have people who are truly interested in that niche to attend.

MMM a BBW Boob Hat Bash maybe |bananna|

ShermsShack 2004-11-11 08:23 PM

Shows are definitly worth going to. As long as you have a game plan, your activities organized and you meet who you need to, the show will be a success...and a lot of fun!

Frank 2004-11-13 12:41 AM

Try to make the event if you can.
It a very good experience.

You'll not only get to see some of the insites of the biz,
personally meet sponsors, etc... but hopefully also personally
meet some of the great people that you see here on the
board/boards.

It's well worth it.
Not only for just the experience.
But for future biz also.

Dr Bizzaro 2004-11-13 04:43 PM

I've got my hotel booked, the plane booked, an extra liver booked and I'm counting the days.....

RawAlex 2004-11-14 12:40 PM

Do you rent a liver, or do you just get one of those disposable ones?

CamZ_Dan 2004-11-14 06:32 PM

Shows are great.

The main reason I go is to see and meet the people we do business with and for the parties :)

although organized parties have been a disappointment for the most part it is the after parties and private parties that rock!!

I am also looking forward to some good poker at this show.

However for business there is no other place to get to meet the people you need to in one place.

I have found that the smaller events during the year are more productive for business but less fun for partying.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing you all there.

emmanuelle 2004-11-14 07:05 PM

There is no better education in this business than that which the shows provide

CamZ_Dan 2004-11-14 07:13 PM

yea that too :)

AdultLoungeRaffi 2004-11-15 03:39 PM

Its important to go to all the shows if you want to be successfull in this competitive industry...

bit the bullet

thanks much for all the feedback. Went ahead and booked flight/ hotel. Hope to meet some of you at the show and maybe kick little project we have going into another gear one way or another.

Question, is it worth getting the "all-inclusive" badge vs "exhibits only" or wait till get there and see about getting a day pass? All I really want to do is meet people, make contacts and hopefully establish some business relationships that work for everybody.

By way of introduction, i am the webmaster of a small amateur site that caters to a particular fetish market. Our inspiration was

If you want to just meet people & mingle & make contacts, then the "exhibits only" badge is the one for you.

But the "all-inclusive" badge will get you into seminars (a list of those is "coming soon" on their website - LOL)
