Easy WMV Hotlinking Protection
 

I made a little tutorial here after reading JenC's thread... This should work for everyone.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes...

Note that this protection works on with cookies... after you visit the authorized URL you will be able to access the file even via the hotlinking domain for 24 hours because the cookie lasts 24 hours.

Clear your cookies to after visiting the content url to experiment with it.

As I posted in your other thread your solution does not work on non Windows systems.

Hmmm, it should... did you try clearing your cookies and trying again?

When you tried last time it was messed up... I made a little mistake, but it should be fixed now.

Which mac browser are you using?

I'm using Safari. I can option click the link and download the wmv to my desktop but most surfers are going to just click the link.

Anyway JavaScript is banned and many places.

And as I posted in the other thread, the script isn't working for me either and I'm on WinXP.

Hmmm I believe Ray - webmastersguide.com has a cookie based movie protecter... I will look..
