Your honest opinion: how much is a 5-letter .com worth?

I'm not really sure if I'm even thinking about selling, but somebody approached me asking if I would sell picxs.com...

What do you think is a 5-letter .com worth these days?

One which makes some sense as a word, too... And gets a few searches for the word?

High 4 figures, 5, or even 6 figures? I'm not dealing in domains so no real idea...

The number of letters/characters doesn't matter if it's over 3. Some criteria for attributing value would be if it's a single word (obviously more vavluabel than several words), if the word is memorable and brandable, if the word is associated with a high-concept or popular product, and if the domain receives any search engine traffic.

Your domain is easy to remember and brandable. I would think you could get an OK price for it considering someone has actually taken the initiative to ask for it. Your not talking X,XXX though.

To answer your question, a 5 letter domain is worth what someone is willing to pay.

However, phone.com would be worth more than fones.com.

I should emphasize one thing. It depends how badly someone wants your domain. I know this is obvious but sometimes a run of the mill name can generate $$$$ to the right buyer.

I recently sold livebbws.com for $200. I purchased this name for $7.95 To me it was worth $7.95 or or nothing. To the buyer, who knows what it could have been worth. It's not a special domain so I was happy with 200 bucks and 2000% profit. But maybe the same buyer would have gone to $2000. It depends a lot on what your buyer has in mind to do with the domain name.

picxs.com is the domain? if he's willing to give you 4 figures I'd take it.

You'd be extremely lucky to get 4 figures for that domain name... unless you've already got some steady traffic to it, I personally wouldn't pay much more than retail.

But then again it all depends on the buyer... I wouldn't be betting on a 4 figure sale if I were you, let alone 5 or 6 figure. If you could sell it for $100- $200 i'd say you did good.

what about good brandable paysite .com names i have a few i bought and just have crappy free sites on them i made along time ago, but would sell them to a big company if they wanted to develop them i will post a few lemme know what you think they may be worth?? am very curious...plus on a few i get who ised a lot i think someone might have tried to buy the names and who is'ed them to see contact info...i was contacted on one domain by a guy but he didnt want to offer and serious money even 500 or so so i just will keep them till i can make paysites unless someone at a sponsor can use them. they are all definetly typein's and brandable and niche specific but not one word.

www.nastycumsluts.com
www.cumfilledamateurs.com
www.nysexchat.com
www.whitewhore4blackcock.com <--was on offer money for
www.pregnantbadgirls.com

let me know if you think any of these would be worth at least $500+ or if you want them or best place to sell them if they are of any value.

just curious hope this wont be considered spam since i saw a few people askng about domains recently i am just wondering plus could use some $$$ lol:D

Those names by default are only worth the registration fees. If by chance someone actually wanted those names, like they had an idea for nysexchat.com or something, then it would be worth what the person is willing to pay for it. But thats about it.

You need one word, or maybe really good two word domains before you can snatch up $500+ from just posting them on message boards.

Hmm I also have a domain, that was registered and left untouched ...

http://www.dormcuties.com

Do you think its worth any more than retail ?
I know theres a paysite www.dormangels.com

OK

I want to mention a good rule of thumb in determining if your domain(s) might possess value. This is by no means definitive, but it is one useful rule to remember.

Scarcity determines value. If you own porno.com then you have a valuable domain because there is only ONE porno.com

Most (or all) great single word domains are taken or for sale at huge prices so, for the modest investor, that usually leaves coming up with two-word domains.

A two-word domain has greater value, the harder it is to duplicate it's meaning using other words. For instance, I own smokerchicks.com. It's ok, but it's value it reduced because of the number of other variations - possibly - available : smokergirls.com, smokingchicks.com, lungcancercuties.com, smokingporn.com, etc etc.

The problem with domains of more than one word is the number of possible variations. So to increase your name value you need to choose domains that have few or no variations (say, in the case of a popular phrase turned into a domain name) or buy up all possible variations to sell as a package.

I hope this helps someone. :)

Yes ... this is a valuable thread for me ... indeed!
