Got a new LCD Monitor
Was getting too much eye strain from the old but good CRT.
Didn't feel like dropping a load on a high end 19 incher, so did some research and decided this was best: http://tinyurl.com/6e68o Just got it and... WOW! Smooth, sharp, crisp, beautiful colors, and 1280x1024 is very comfortable on the 17 inch LCD screen. I was actually trying to avoid using the computer I got so sick of my old monitor. For about $450 after mail in rebate this is a good LCD to get for the price. I did a fair bit of research before getting it- but really any LCD would have been better than that eye straining hulk of a 19inch CRT! Sweeeeeeeeeeet. If you've been hesitating on an LCD...don't wait...pick one up now and your eyes will thank you. |
Yeah, I'm able to work twice as long using my LCD. Now I'm always working.

Nice monitor. :) I'd never heard of LCD monitors before this post. I take it these are improvements on normal TFT monitors. I'll have to take a look at one when I next go to the city and see if I prefer it over my current monitors.

I've been debating wether to get a LCD monitor or not, the plus side is the eye thing yes, and it looks cool design wise...but my problem is that I play a lot of quake3\doom3 etc and Im afraid I'll need to shell out like 1000$ to get a lcd monitor with 12ms or something that wont lag behind when I play

LCD monitors don't flicker like CRT ones so you get much less eye strain. Another nice thing about some of the LCDs is that they are wide aspect so you get a much wider desktop to hold everything.
I really need to break down and replace my 21" CRT with a LCD. I want the 23" model. My laptop has a 17" wide aspect display and when I'm home I use it along with my 21" CRT for lots of desktop space. |

Now that I've had it a few days I appreciate it even more.
I made a couple of quick tweaks on the Menu and now it's perfect. Things are also more productive for me in 1280x1024. As a quick example- when I link the thumbs on a freesite I can drag the pointer to the File to link it without ever scrolling for all 24 pics. :D I haven't had an eye strain headache since I got it. This is a good thing. |
I remember when I bought my LCD it was kinda like a shock on the eyes, but it's sooo much easier to stay longer, it's increased my Stamina :)

Man I'm so blind I think I'm blinking instead of the it actually flickering haha.
I'm going to order the one hp has its a 17" tft lcd I think it like 350.00. Maybe my eyes will last afew more yrs haha |
Nice, AW :)
I for one cannot get used to mine but my old mac studio display died on me and it was much cheaper... |
I am presently using an NEC Multisync 77F.
Lately, I've been bunrt out and have not had ANY energy for anything - and not only that, I've been sleeping so much - its freaking me out!! After reading all of your posts, I now realize that I am going to have to get an LCD 17". |thumb |
Pornrex,
it has nothing to do with the LCD, sorry... |sad| |
My rich neighbor who doesn't know what to do with all his money, he doesn't seem to like the idea of giving me a bunch, just bought the Apple 30" LCD. The thing is fucking huge. He still has his old 23" Apple LCD plugged in too so his desktop space is so big that it requires a lot of work just to get the mouse from one end to other.
He only uses it to look at porn and play games, what a waste, but Halo was very impressive on it. LOL |
Well this be nice someday but not anytime soon haha

Just remember: If you are doing graphics work, the colors are NOT the same on the LCD as they are on a regular monitor (the dark to light level isn't the same) and you will find the colors to be somewhat off most of the time.
My editing system has a 19" CRT and a 17 inch LCD. The CRT has much truer colors than the LCD. Alex |

Sure. But color will vary from CRT to CRT depending how old it is and how people screw with it.
I guess if you do desktop publishing it may be an issue, but for online graphics- the color will vary a good bit no matter what. |
