The Wife thinks She won $650,000 I think it's a scam
 

Wife has been getting emails from Dimond Lottery in the UK saying she won $650,000. I keep telling her it's a scam (but what the hell do I know)
She's getting them from the bank now wanting her to fax a copy of her photo ID so they can set her account up for disbursement of funds.
I looked up the bank in Whois and the website is in the bank officers name

It's a scam Pat.

They'll ask for your bank numbers, and clean out your account. Or use your info for identity theft. Or tell you you have to pay X thousand in "taxes".

No such lotterys use email for contact.

Don't trust phone calls either.

Tell them to send you the check, and when it clears you will pay the "taxes"- then you'll see them scurry.

Sounds like you should contact GWB and ask him to shut them down haha.He has connects over there don't he

Just felt like a scam so I made this post. (She's not sending them anything now)

I almost went for this one - but I had all of my money tied up - this old friend in South Africa has an old oil company and needed some help at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Im helping him to the tune of a few million to get it taken care of - he's gonna come over in a few weeks to party and give me my cut - should make a bundle on this one |jester|

It's awful when you see how easy it is for these scammers to get normal intelligent people sucked in.

I went very close to buying a copy of XP online for some stupidly low price.... just wasnt thinking.. at the last moment I looked at the url their payment form pointed at.. googled it.. and came up with about 1000 hits on Scam Alert websites.

Then a week later a friend casually mentions this great deal he found on windows XP but the order form said they couldnt process his credit card.. (I made him get on the phone and order a new card on the spot).


*for anyone who didnt realise it... most of those spam emails you get offering ridiculously cheap software.. are just a scam to collect your Credit Card information.. they tell you they cant process your order so you hopefully forget about them and they get more time using your card.

My general across the board policy. Don`t deal with anyone you don`t know who emails, calls or comes to your door. If what they had was so good you would have heard about it already in this day and age!

But on the other hand those people sure are fun to fuck with! LOL

I been getting about 2 or 3 fake earthlink emails about they are going to close my isp account or they need my info updated... and there is a link to give your personal info and I clicked on it to see how dumb someone else could be and they took the page down so I got a ip address in the url bar and ran a whois and its some third world country contact info, and whats funny they start the letter out with a odd ball greeting and missspellings in the closings and they the next day or two they send a improved BS letter thats a little more convincing - so again I click on the link and its gone again, so aleast earthlink is keeping up with them..
