Starting a paysite: Checklist

Hello

Well, I've been having this bad idea for awhile.
Been doing some reading, doing some checking..

What do I need to consider in order to start a paysite?
Besides the design of corse, because we are doing the killer design anyway.

My questions:
Members area:
If it will have like 100,000 average looking pictures and about 5 plugins, doesn't it stand a chance?

Traffic:
Do I need to buy a certain amount of traffic or wait untill my affiliates will send me some?

What else is important to consider?

Excellent input! Thank you guys.

How long does it take to get around 20k-50k traffic a day from affiliates when you start out? Suppose I have a bunch of killer sale tools for webmasters.

Depends on how many affiliates you have, how good they are and how many other sponsors they have, what % they're sending you ..

There's no answer to that question really.

No offense, but it doesn't sound like you're too experienced in adult generally. Opening a paysite is a steep learning curve.

Very importantly, those "big fish" affiliates are going to be really hard to get without having a strong background in adult, a killer program and convincing them that you're stable enough to keep it above water.

Thats right. But everybody starts someday.
I'm just trying to envision the most things before jumping into it, hopefully I won't hit many rocks. I'm trying to get an idea, an estimate..

The general idea is 4 sites (each targeted to a general niche) with 1 members area, covering all 4 niches. Killer webmaster tools, including all the latest gadgets.

What are my chances? And what can I do to improve them?

Hi Shima,

I was just saying that maybe paysites aren't the best place to start, but if that's what you want, go for it.

Usually, after some time in the business and having gallery conversions down tight, knowing what to sell and how to sell it and knowing the people out here is when someone makes the transition from webmaster promoting paysites to webmaster owning paysites and running an affiliate program.

It has nothing to do with chance. It has to do with knowing your niches and traffic patterns. Habits of surfers and management skills. And resources within the community.

To improve upon this, you need to know (REALLY know and study) your niches and traffic patterns, habits of surfers and management skills .. and network with webmasters.
