Happy Radio Show Tuesday :)

Good Tuesday Morning :)
Lots going on today. Don't forget to listen to the radio show tonight. Tonight's special guest...Nobody :)

Fonz 2004-11-16 07:17 AM

Good morning all :)

Already looking forward to listening to 55 minutes of quality conversation between GG&Jim :D

Cleo 2004-11-16 07:26 AM

Morning it is here. :)

Are submits getting worse by the day? :(

I'm so over not having a kitchen and living on microwave fast food. Bitch, bitch, bitch…

I have the Knockdown people coming by at 9:30 to give me a quote and tell me when they can do the work. Depending on what they tell me I may be around all day or I may go and take care of some business that I've been putting off. Once this is done I can get the floors tiled in every room except my office and guest bedroom which will make my house much more livable again and allow my kitchen to get finished.

Bad espresso and oatmeal in a dusty bowl is now being nuked in my office.

Merry Morning Mates |bananna|

Great news about the show being on today. Looking forward to hearing some of Jim's jokes :D

Got a guy coming to fit some blinds in my study today. Will be online all day except 2:30 GMT to whenever blinds guy is finished.

Have a good one! :)

I have to do this to my office after it is finished. I haven't had blinds in its windows in many years as my trees were so big that no direct sun ever came in but now that the hurricanes trimmed all my trees I'm being blinded in the morning by the rising sun coming in through its east facing window.

I also need to go by Home Depot and get a timer for my new water cooler as it is close enough to my bedroom that I can hear it making water cooler noises all night as it cycles on and off.

Good Morning!

Have a good one!

Morning all, trying to sift through a ton of e-mails I got this morning. Yesterday was opening day for rifle season here so all the hunters have invaded our little town. You would think the entire town only has orange attire.

I hope you post finished pics when your home improvement campaign is at an end. DIY is not my thing but home improvement is a big interest of mine. To say your workers are pissing you around a little, they're still doing an excellent job from what I've seen. That bathroom especially is first rate. You wont want to venture into that Florida sunlight when it's all finished. :)

It is going to be very nice when it is done.

I'm really pushing everyone as I'm trying to get things done before all the holidays kick in and no one is working.

The big stumbling block right now is if I can get the granite counter tops in before the holidays. They can't come in and make their templates before the kitchen cabinets are in and they take about two weeks from the time they make their templates and you go over to their warehouse and pick out your slab of stone to get them installed. My kitchen sink is installed on the underside of the counter top so no counter tops no kitchen sink.

It is the most expensive chunk of rock that I've ever bought. :D

I don't really care that much if my office and guest bedroom get done by the holidays but I sure would like a kitchen by then.

You'll get it done, I have every confidence. The hard part is logistics and you've got that under control. Probably like you, what I do is sit down and budget everything before I start, add a contingency of ususally 12.5%, and the fun for me is seeing it all come together. I buy terraced houses and do them up nice and cheap so that I can rent them out to students or families (though, no granite kitchen counters in them, too expensive!) We had granite in our last house and it looks great, the best material there is. :)

Oh and . . . the most expensive rock you don't intend to smoke :D

What really gets me is how everyone done here is pushing Silestone. I just don't get it. Besides being kind of ugly it costs about a buck more square foot. If that wasn't enough it will burn if you put a very hot pot on it or something like that. Plus it will scratch with a knife.

Another counter top they are pushing down here is cement. This also costs more and they tell you that it isn't really good to use in a kitchen that is going to get a lot of use plus it is fucking ugly as hell.

I'm doing Black Pearl Granite with eggshell high gloss cabinets and stainless steel appliances. A
bit like this pic

Cement sounds fucking horrendous. Black granite is the only way to go. When you look at top of the line kitchens you'll always find granite. I prefer a monochrome like you've chosen because it's stylish and you know it'll look good with all your appliances, especially stainless steel. |thumb

EDIT : Brushed steel cool also. :)

Good Radio Tuesday Peoples!

I'm a little late for work today - I guess I'm not on my normal schedule after my weekend in Boston.

We had a good time in Beantown - Adult Legal Jim & his friends took good care of Yell & me - hit a lot of bars on Saturday night & then got to watch the Pats beat the shit out of the Bills on National TV |banghead|

I have a lot of catching up to do today, but I should be on here for the most part :)

A good time was had by some |jester|

Cleo,

I'm getting a taster of your problems today. The handyman I usually use is ill so he recommended my blinds guy. He's 65, insists on relating life story at any opportunity, and totally fucking clueless. He's gone home for some sockets, so I'm hopping on my computer in the meantime. He's had 3 fucking hours to put up 4 fucking blinds!!! If he wasn't such an old dickhead.... |angry|

Yell 2004-11-16 01:21 PM

Hello everyone :)

We had a great time in Beantown |bananna|

Adult Legal Jim & his friends thanks for the good time.:)

Jim did you fall on the ice last night and hurt your ass or was that from Saturday night?|jester|

Just like the The Chapelle Show warned me

"Never get put in a sleeper hold because when you wake up your anus hurts"
