Who is Blamo and what did he do?
Blamo did some big time dmoz editor abuse early on. He was the first person to get banned from dmoz. It all happened in '98 or '99.
But who is this Blamo guy?
Oh yeah that's right. Blamo is Greenguy!
Can that be true? Someone who portraits themselves as a fucking saint, is a crook? It's true :) Ask him!

Greenguy has always admitted to being an editor in dmoz. He has referred to it several times in many threads. He has many times mentioned that he was kicked out of dmoz for adding in his own links like EVERY other editor did "back in the day".

One thing Greenguy is not and that is a crook. someone has there facts wrong here and im not sure what this is about but i remember what happened with Dmoz.

Greenguy was made a scapegoat, i looked into this when it happened and greenguy was a saint compared to most of the dmoz editors.

Dmoz were just looking for a high profile webmaster to make an example of and Greeny was the best target they could find.

its all bullshit just like this thread.

6 years ago corrct and it was bullshit then and its bullshit now.

There was so much scammy shit going on with the editors at Dmoz and they had no clue how to deal with the problems they created by setting the editor shit up like they did.

Greenguy was the highest profile webmaster that was an editor and that is the ONLY reason they dumped him, it made him a target for there own uselessness, dmoz got what they deserved but greenguy didnt, they should have sacjked about 1000 other editors before greeny but then there crappy engine would have been a waste of internet space.

it was easy to make an example of greenguy and hope everyone else shit themselves and fell into line. Anyone tried to get a site listed in dmoz these days? last time i tried which was a little while ago it was fucking impossible. The editors still do there own shit and the greenguy thing was and still remains bullshit

Now, I would ask, as did someone else earlier, what is the fucking point of this thread and dragging up old news besides someone having a bad hair day?

Welcome to Spring of the year 2000 everyone!

I've never hid anything that I did in Dmoz & oddly enough, all the reasons they kicked me out were true. But, no one ever mentions that they also threw out about 100 other webmasters that week for doing the same thing - I was picked on because I was "hiding" in there under my other name "blamo" & was a "big name target" - ya know, make an example of the biggest name we can find.

I only said 2000 because I spoke to SE Guru about it (who was a big wig at Dmoz at the time) in New Orleans that year & I thought our conversation was shortly after it all happened.

That's right - if your site was a piece of shit, I deleted it. If your site was in the wrong category, I moved it. If your site was redirecting, I banned it. If your submit fit the categories I had, I added it. I also added my own sites (but not 100's & 100's of them like has been said in the past)

What would be the point of being a dmoz editor if you couldn't add your own links? Would it be the company car? The bonuses? The respect you get from others? Or is just the pride that comes from being associated with something that 9 out 10 (perhaps more) surfers will never even know about?

I just got finished filing DMCA complaints through Google and Blue Gravity for most of his domains - after finding all of the domains that were copying other sites and then cloaking them to Google - but the nice people at Google have been very helpful :)

Hopefully all of the LL owners and TGP owners know his affiliate program by now and have banned submits promoting his paysites
