Newsletter Contest Retooling is Finally Done :)
 

That's right...after having the Newsletter Contest closed down for retooling for the past several months, it is now ready. And there are some changes that I think will make the board users very happy.

The way it used to be...
I would randomly pick an email address from the newsletter list and send out a secret phrase. If that webmaster posted the secret phrase within 24 hours of the time the newsletter went out, they would win $100. If not, the money would roll over to the next week.

The new contest...
Email addresses are given internal tickets. A newsletter subscriber that is not registered on the board is given 1 ticket. A newsletter subscriber that is registered for the board is given 2 tickets. A newsletter subscriber that is registered to the board with 1-100 posts is given 3 tickets. And so on...
Here is a complete breakdown assuming that you are both registered to the board and subscribed to the newsletter.
1-100 3 tickets
101-200 5 tickets
201-500 8 tickets
500-1000 10 tickets
1000+ 15 tickets
Once/week, our software will randomly pick one ticket. The secret phrase will be in the ticket owners newsletter in bold RED text. That webmaster will still have 24 hours to claim their $100. If the webmaster does not claim their prize, it will be rolled over until the next week. If the prize is not claimed after the 5th week ($500), the contest starts over at $100 again.

I do believe that's the 1st time I've ever heard of a garbage bag & a bunch of small pieces of paper with email addy's on them being called "software" :D

That was the old technology. The new technology is all automatic. I just type in a phrase and it is inserted into an email while the newsletter is being sent. I don't even know who the winner is until they post.

hmmm I think I use different email addresses for the board and newsletter. I stopped getting them for some reason at one point, and had to sign up again. Guess I should check... 5 tickets are better than 1 |jester|
