I spent about a week doing mine this year :) Next year after I have moved, I will be needing a cherry picker to so our lights.

kristian 2004-12-02 11:46 PM

Ours are up too. And april seems to add to them each day. |santa|

Jim,

Where are you moving?

Useless 2004-12-03 12:02 AM

I don't put decorations outside because I don't want to contribute to my neighbors' joyfulness. I also try to hold the wife back from doing much inside until closer to Christmas. When we put our tree up, we have to put it on a sturdy coffee table and tie the top to the ceiling. Otherwise the assclown dogs will take it down for giggles.

Porn Princess 2004-12-03 12:04 AM

Usually I go all out on the interior. And the exterior decorations depend on what kind of place I'm living (last year was an apartment so didn't do much there).

This year, I think we've agreed to only get a tree. I don't want to skip Christmas altogether, but without my brother around my enthusiasm has kinda lost its luster.

Besides a lot of my stuff is still in storage in CA so next year it'll be...well, like Christmas just seeing it all again.|santa|

AcidMaX 2004-12-03 01:05 AM

Nothing inside or out because we are always visiting family this time of year. From the 18th - 27th or so we are gone visiting relatives for Christmas so its worthless until we have kids :)

No decorations here yet but it will be a matter of days.

Yeah - we fucking decorate but I have no idea why, because something always goes wrong!

Outside has been decorated for under 2 weeks & so far:
1 - The inflatable Homer Santa that we have had been blown out of the ground by wind & last night, covered with so much snow that we woke up to him appearantly taking a nap.
2 - The wire reindeer also blew over, breaking the neck of one of them.
3 - Another little Santa blew over & broke into 4 or 5 pieces & we had to strap him back together.
4 - 3 sections of 7 different light sets have decided that 2 weeks of use was a little too much, so there's now empty spots on the house & gutters where lights should be.

So yeah, we deck the fucking halls! |santa|

selena 2004-12-03 08:48 AM

I never had before, but my little one complained alot this year. He wanted lights on the house, but I told him there was no way I could do that myself.

(wears inept badge with pride)

So we compromised by going to WalMart and getting some yard stuff. Holy fuck, that shit is expensive!

Two sets of candy canes to line the sidewalk and one of those pre-lit trees with wire arms was over $60. And of course, he had a mental list of about 8 more things that were must-have.

I played Grinch by nixing that idea.

But the tree does look pretty, I gotta admit. Today I have to figure out if there is some type of outdoor adapter thingy you can use as I have one outside cord and three things that need plugged in.

When I was a kid Xmas would (almost literally) explode a couple days after Thanksgiving in my house. Everything that hung on a wall or sat on a table was replaced with an Xmas decoration that served the same function. I might as well have lived at the North Pole.

Hence, since I first moved out of my mom's house, I have declared my living space to be a Xmas Free Zone.

MrMaryLou 2004-12-03 10:47 AM

Is the season to be jolly for sure :) I can still hear my mom yelling at my dad when he putting up the lights every year LOL "Red, Green, Yellow, Blue you got two colors together" Ah memories :)

SirMoby 2004-12-03 11:51 AM

I used to do the tree and some other stuff but this year with the little one already walking, putting everything in her mouth and since we're going to visit mom I think we'll pass.

Tommy, you asked the question but didn't provide an answer.

Linkster 2004-12-03 11:56 AM

Outside lights and decorations are up and burning - course most of them stay up all year long |jester| (no damn redneck jokes) at least I didnt decorate the washer and dryer on the front porch

The inside is done - even the stockings are hung on the fireplace mantle - all the ceramic villages and people have taken over the living room - the kitchen and outside rugs have been replaced - and the 12 foot tree is up and lit - of course the cats are shitting tinsel now - its funny watching them run around the house with a silver trail following behind them - and the candy canes I put on the tree are already starting to dissapear into my belly :)

Weekends coming - got to get the molasses out so I can start baking the gingerbread for the little house and the sugar cookies - the rum, brandy and whiskey are just waiting for the eggnog

Oh shit I guess I better start thinking about shopping LOL

Linkster 2004-12-03 11:58 AM

An all of that and I still just remembered I havent decorated the website yet!!!!

MrMaryLou 2004-12-03 11:59 AM

Speaking of Redneck did ya decorate the old mustang sitting in the yard Linkster |jester|

Linkster 2004-12-03 12:37 PM

I traded it in for one of those new Jeep Unlimiteds - now I can hook up my 4 wheeler to go to the deer camp and go muddin :)

docholly 2004-12-03 01:00 PM

Since my name is Goodhead i prefer to "Deck the balls".. oh wait.. this isn't a forum to get traffic to my website???

|rasta| confusion in camho land..

my contribution to the Yule (we don't do xmas only xxxmas) is 2 bight pink flamingos in my front yard with little pink lights. HEY it's vegas, i can be garishly trailer trash and the flyovers think it's "elegant".

Jim,

Where are you moving?

We are in fact moving around January 15th or so. My father decided to move away and gave me his any my mother's house. So, I was left with a choice of living here and paying $1800/month mortgage, way to much in property tax and having to mow 7 acres myself. Or, living in a bigger, better, nicer house for FREE. I am going to miss my land but not the house at all.

Tommy 2004-12-03 05:51 PM

I was out there all day stringing lights on trees,
tomorrow I have one more tree and then I will do all the lights on the outside of the house

I should be done by monday

barbara does the inside decorations and we both do the tree last

MeatPounder 2004-12-05 04:22 AM

I don't know...I'm doing a lil bit down here, but the christmas season just doesn't seem the same down here in Florida.
Is it just me or is there something just so very wrong with xmas lights on a palm tree?
lmao, looking at the real trees down here in the heat....they are already dry brown firetraps, and they are still in the sales lots.

One thing that reminds me of home is when I go out in the early morning some days people are bundled up in ski parkas...thats on the frigid 60 degree mornings of course....roflmao

digifan 2004-12-07 03:38 PM

I won't decorate this Christmas... nothing to celebrate.. I lost my Dad to cancer a few yr. ago to cancer right before Christams and now Mom and both were so young so I'll be alone.

Cleo 2004-12-07 03:50 PM

Personally I'm very much looking forward to the second week of January. Nothing is happening then so that is why I'm looking forward to it.

Maybe I should find a skull and crossbones and hang some broken lights on it. I could put some dead reindeer who died pulling a sled with some fat man on life support laying near death on it.

stuveltje 2004-12-07 04:13 PM

sinterklaas( oke a guy like santa but then in a dress) is over here so now time to decorate for christmas, althought the netherlands dont have the tradition like the us people to decorate the whole house fomr the outside and inside, you will see it more and more in the netherlnads, we do also, again its decorating, the whole house inside and out..and its hell because i have to do it..........i hate the lamps, when one isnt working..........oh nice time to look forward too|violin|

Zoe_Zoebaboe 2004-12-08 04:05 AM

egh...I have some lights up inside because they look nifty. Nothing really special as far as Christmas goes though....
