Specific Sponsor gets NO attn, HELP!
I have a sponsor who's banners don't really get as much attention as the other sponsor's banners I have on my site... I hardly get clicks on 'em and haven't received one sign up yet!
They don't seem to be placed any differently, have about the same quality and hold up good on the site (as far as appearance/price/user options) but something's a no go. Has anyone ever experienced this? If so, any solutions/suggestions? It would be an awesome help! I'd hate to can the sponsor, but I feel that may the only solution if all else fails... |
The first thing is to check to be sure the sponsor url with your affiliate code is properly formated.
Some sponsors just have lousy banners. Or really bad tours that never get the surfer to make that second click (many sponsors only count the second click.). If you are not getting performance from a sponsor, I'd try another relatively quickly. Unless a sponsor is known to you and a proven performer, it doesn't make sense to keep advertising a sponsor that isn't working out. The flip side of that is that you've got to be willing to test out new sponsors, and a reasonable test means throwing at least a few thousand clicks to the sponsor, unless it's a deep niche sponsor and you really expect to make a signup per 100-200 clicks to the sponsor. |
Who's the sponsor?

Thanks for the advice Bill, I'm currently considering the points you've made. I thought patience was a virtue but, that seems quite contrary in this game...

Sometimes a sponsor's sites just aren't a good fit for your traffic. There's one sponsor everybody loves that I just can't seem to send traffic to. It's so bad it's just silly. (Of course, the other day, out of nowhere, I made a sale - 1:14 ratio on that one site. Somehow I snagged a stray.) Maybe your traffic is overexposed to that particular sponsor (I suspect that's the issue I have) or maybe their selling style is somehow incompatible with yours. It could be something very simple or it could be a number of combined factors. If you come up with a clear answer, let me know! ;) |
Generally, if my click through rate is awful for one sponsor and not others I drop them like a bag of lit dynamite. Not altogether, but for the traffic source in question. I have some sponsors that sell pretty well directly off my link list traffic but not on my freesite traffic, even with a variety of different types of ads, etc. Go figure.

may be you need to change sponsor?
this one is probably not good for your traffic if codes are correct of course |
After posts/replies etc, I realized that the problem with the sponsor is definitely combination overexposed sites/too much hardcore/just not right for my traffic...
I've been supplied with a good list of sponsors that seem better for my traffic. Thanks all for the heads up! |smooch| |
Never be afraid to conmtactg your sponsor/sponsor rep if you are having issues.
I help affiliates a lot of times that have simply copy/pasted their code wrong. Sometimes if a sponsor is overexposed, it'll affect clicks and don't be afraid to ask a sponsor if they count clicks to the first page, second page, etc. Often times though a sponsor rep can help you tweak your site and/or ads to achive optimal clickthroughs and sales. |
