Happy Thursday Everyone!

Good Thursday Everyone!

Today I get to go see my accountant so that he can yell at me about fucking up my Dept Of Labor tax forms from last year - and probably tell me that I'm not putting enough aside for taxes for this year. So that should ruin my day rather nicely :D

How about that shooting in Columbus of Pantera/Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell?

Really fucked up.

MrMaryLou 2004-12-09 09:26 AM

Good Morning All :)

Morning...Bad Headache this morning Going to be a shit day

Cleo 2004-12-09 09:35 AM

Morning sick fucks from the land of sick fucks. :D

Spent most of yesterday setting up Epoch for my tranny neighbor's site. |banghead|

I may go down to Los Olas for some personal shopping and some R&R this afternoon. My eyeballs feel like they have grown hair and I'm feeling a bit burnt out.

I went to about a dozen places yesterday looking at bar stools. Found lots of stools that I didn't like for $500+ and up so I went on line and ordered two of These.

Linkster 2004-12-09 09:35 AM

Good morning - reviews done and off to bowl a makeup game set - then off to the physical therapist to try to get my middle finger working right |jester|

Good morning. Today is much less grey than yesterday. Is it spring yet?

Really fucked up.

That is fucked up. How do you manage to kill only a handful of people when you are the only one with a gun and face no real resistance?

Greenguy 2004-12-09 09:53 AM

Cleo - those are nice stools :)

UW - I guess he shot Dimebag 5 times, killed 3 others & injured a couple people before the cops got there & shot him.

So, he might have wasted most of his ammo on Dimebag.

kristian 2004-12-09 09:55 AM

Morning Preeverts!

I'm spending the day working on a nice network of hubs. Want to get the 1st phase completed by end of year. Will get down to submitting again tomorrow, just not in the mood today.

Hope your tax hiccup works out, Greenie. I hate nothing more than throwing money at a government (uk in my case) that gives me substantially less in return.

Have a good day all :)

AcidMaX 2004-12-09 09:57 AM

Good Thursday Morning People.

R.I.P. Dimebag Darrel.

This guy was probably one of the best current metal guitarists out today. It's too bad so many of the good muisicians die so friggin young and quite often at the hand of another. At some point the venues need to take some fucking responsibility for the people within the club.

Wow, Fuck, Fuck, I just read that article, there is a more detailed one at CNN, that is just fucked up! :(

What is wrong with people? Guess we need more guns, not.

Nothing can ruin your day more then a pissed off nut with a gun. :(

Fuck that is an upsetting story. :(

On a side note the maniac that shot me also killed a cat while shooting me.

Did I mention that I've hated guns since I was a child?

murray 2004-12-09 10:59 AM

to the guy who shot Dime |2up

No offense its not the guns that kill people. People Kill People. We need more security at venues so this shit doesn't happen. All the owner had was bouncers, no metal detectors nothing. I think this is not only the guy who did it, but the owner of the establishment, he is responsible for the patrons and bands security.

It's just like the Pistons fight, the Palace of Auburn Hills is getting sued supposedly by fans for not keeping them safe from the players punching them.

The guy who killed Dimebag is just a fucktard 25 year old named Nathan Gates or some shit.

EDIT: Now that I read your entire post I understand why you made the statement. Sorry definitely don't mean to take away from your shooting. I need to learn to read entire messages before posting :D

RIP Dimebag

I remember seeing Pantera at Harpo's (which used to be the best heavy metal B circuit club in the midwest) back in the day, and he always put on a great show. Pantera was one of the best metal bands of their day.

Fuck the psycho that killed dimebag, I wish he had 30 years of being Bubba's bitch to look forward to instead of having gotten what he surely wanted...suicide by cop.

Otherwise, happy Thursday everyone.

Ramster 2004-12-09 11:27 AM

Good Morning!!

That is totally fucked up. I gotta agree, what is wrong with people.

Yeah Harpos was a blast. I remember seeing quite a few bands at the Ritz in Roseville too, which is no longer there.

I think Harpos is still around though.

Yup, the Ritz is now an extension of the bowling alley that used to be next door. Harpo's is still there, but it sucks now. Went to hell in the mid '90s beginning with "Dance Party Thursdays", which then became "maybe we'll have live bands, maybe we'll just play shitty hip-hop all night and drive away the metal crowd that made the place what it was."

I used to LIVE at Harpo's on the weekends, but we metal heads were forgotten by management...as well as all our heavy metal sluts. GOD I miss that place when it was in its prime. Spandex minis and studded leather bodices from wall to wall, burnin' fatties right in the bar 'cause it was such a zoo security could never tell who was burning. MMMMMMMMM|rasta|

I live someplace with almost daily shooting. I've had a gun pulled on me three times and have actually been shot, very seriously, one of those times. Both my uncles were killed by guns. I've lost a few friends to shootings and know of at least one who is paralyzed from a gunshot.

I don't see any reason in our modern society to own a gun. On all the occasions that I have been a victim of violence having a gun would have not helped me at all.

As far as the right to bare guns then why not a cannon a or tactical nuclear weapon?

Our society glamorizes guns and they are looked on as a status symbol so they are used as a means to an end.

Guns don't kill people with guns kill and if they didn't have a gun then they would have to resort to throwing stones or maybe, just maybe, actually speaking to each other.

Removing guns from our society would not make a difference. Look at the UK, then banned guns, then the crooks went to knives, last I heard they are trying to ban knives. The right to carry a weapon is written into our history in order to give our country and its citizens the ability to overthrow the government if need be. There is more to owning a gun than just shooting people. I think there needs to be a limit on the guns because of the crazed fucks out there, I think the checks on the guns could be stiffer, but the right to have a handgun is my right and would fight tooth and nail to keep that right especially when it comes to protecting my family.

Sure you were shot and had no chance, and that REALLY sucks, the person who did it should be in prison or dead. Being a paramedic for years I have seen my share of gunshot wounds and I don't like to see anyone shot or hurt in anyway, but if it comes down to me or the person who is threatening me or my family he is going down. Even if you banned guns people would still get them and use them. Drugs are illegal, people still use em. Booze was illegal and people still drank.

As far as today's society there are still plenty of reasons to have a gun, here is just one reason:

Hunting, reduces the ever growing population of wildlife that can ruin crops and cause property damage. In the state of Michigan more deer are killed by cars than by hunters. This is because they are breeding so fast out here. Hunting could be to eat, protect their crops, or thin the herds.

Again not trying to get into a heated debate with you on it, and I do hate that this happened to you, but its not the guns as you and I have both said its the people. Just reminds me of the tobacco lawsuits. It's not the cigarette manufacturers fault that someone gets cancer, its their own. People need to take responsibility for their issues. Just like the bar owner needs to take responsibility for the security of the people in his establishment.

I'll start another debate....you really think that every bar that has a band should have a metal detector & frisk people & whatnot?

MadMax 2004-12-09 01:31 PM

Yes....If they're getting big acts through the door. Dimebag's new band wasn't all that big, but his name is still a big draw. Every responsible bar that caters to wild crowds (metal, hard rock, hip hop, rap) has a responsibility to keep their patrons safe. I can't remember the last time I went to a metal show without a metal detector at the door (oh, the irony :)). Doesn't bother me a bit, because it means I can get wild in the mosh pit without worrying about some jackass pulling out a weapon.

Yes I think regardless of the act, they should make their establishment safe for people to go to. It doesn't cost much for those handheld metal detector wands and a couple security guards to scan everyone.

oh gawd screw that! this club apperantly had a history of voilence though (including another fatal shooting recently) so im not sure if this club shouldnt have one, but jezus guys - i have no interest in dealing with airport type bullshit when going to a club and i dont think the rest of the world will either.

on another note, dimebag and vinny were both from the town i live in here in dallas. damage plan (their new band) just got through playing a gig here on the 4th which was fucking awesome. those two guys are absolute legends around here and they are really good guys in the community (and their strip club rocked!). They are our kinds of folks and derral will be missed

AcidMaX 2004-12-09 02:25 PM

I don't think we should have security at the mall and grocery store, but I think clubs definitely need some sort of metal detectors. It wouldn't hurt anyone to walk through a metal detector to visit a show. I mean lets face it there are a lot of crazy metal heads out there, I know because I am one of em. I have seen people knifed, punched with brass knuckles and all kinds of shit at metal shows. I think shit like that needs to be found, especially when there are people moshing around and drunk, it would help make sure people are safe.

What if you really want to kill someone, but they are bigger than you? You need a gun!

What if you are low cash and you're positive the store clerk isn't going to just give it to you? You need a gun!

What if your neighbor is horribly obnoxious and you just can't take it anymore? You need a gun!

What if you get pulled over for doing 85mph in a school zone? You need a gun!

What if your biology teacher is unfairly critical of your academic performance? You need a gun!

What if you really need to get Jodi Foster's attention? You need a gun!

What if your favorite metal band breaks up? You need a gun!

Really, the list goes on and on. All perfectly legitimate reasons for gun ownership in the U.S.

Cleo 2004-12-09 03:33 PM

A few of the clubs that I've been in down in Miami have metal detectors at the door… then again they are lesbian bars. On a side note the bullet fragments that are in my back sometimes set off the wand metal detectors. I just tell them not to worry since I've come pre-shot. I do computer work for the Broward Sheriff Office sometimes and have to go through their metal detectors and they were less then amused when I told them that.

I guess guns make for good human population control so they do have a place in our society after all.

The 36" machete that I keep under my bed seemed to work pretty well when someone tried to break into my house last summer. I guess I could have shot them if I owned a gun but then there would have been all that paperwork not to mention I still had white carpet back then so it would have been a bitch cleaning up the mess.
