When do you put up your tree?

Every Christmas, I feel like I am putting up our Christmas tree late. My lovely wife says that we aren't. So, when do you guys put up your tree?

Greenguy 2004-12-10 04:00 PM

We put ours up last weekend - real one this year |santa|

Whenever it happens! lol Maybe next week. We are too busy through the weekend unless my wife does it when I take off for the day sunday. But really I broke my big toe being stupid several days ago and just have`nt felt like climbing up into the attic to get it!

We normally put ours up the first weekend of December. This year though I felt pressure from the neighbors and threw it up the day after Thanksgiving!

MrMaryLou 2004-12-10 05:04 PM

The day after thanksgiving :) But when I was a kid we always had to wait till Christmas eve :( So this is why we put it up early :)

I know people that put it up christmas eve. I never did understand that. I like to have a few days to lay under the tree, make a fort out of gifts and just enjoy the smell.

Jim - Im sending up some of those little green soldiers so you can have a big WW2 battle under your tree |couch|

I always get mine up Thanksgiving weekend - then I put the tree up the following week (hey Im getting old) |jester|

I think we probably are skipping the tree afterall this year. But usually I like to shoot for the 1st week of December 2nd week at the latest. The smell and turning out all the house lights and just laying under looking up and the tree with some eggnog set the mood & gets me more in the spirit.

I planted some new palm trees where I lost the ficus tree.

Does planting palms count?

Actually why do they call palms trees anyway? Palm tress are actually members of the grass family. Trees are only alive on the outside bark layer while grasses, like Palm Trees, are alive all the way through.

What the fuck does this have to do with this thread anyway?

Okay I got off my ass and dragged all the boxes out of the attic tonight. Putting it up can wait. I was an old xmas toy I broke my damn toe on in the first place!

I`d rather be planting |potleaf| trees.

stuveltje 2004-12-12 03:41 PM

i still havent got up that tree i promise my kids tomorrow, but then we had sint nicolaas on the 5 of december,(the santa in a dress) for real i hate those december days, i know at my parents house we left the tree up till say about 8 days after new year but since my son has is birthday on the 5th of januar i have to get rid of the christmas stuff quick, so i want that tree up early in december but cant with those freaken sint nicolaas days....|violin|

Yes Boobhead Santa,

in some countries it is Christmas Eve... tradition :) I'll put lights into my windows, lots of candles everywhere, pine scent and maybe a small tree from the garden in its pot which goes back in january.. we will see.

Ours is finally done. We have about 1/2 our gifts under it now and it looks like we may have a week to just enjoy the Holiday.

Black Cat 2004-12-13 03:24 AM

i already did after the thanksgiving day, i love it everyone thinks it's beautiful. it's color blue with a white ribbon and other angel deco around it.

Thumb Angels 2004-12-13 04:50 AM

My cat wont allow me to have a tree, she would "undress" it on sight :)

Kath 2004-12-13 05:37 PM

We put our tree up a week ago... I felt like it was late - hub felt like it was too early. lol I like to do the day after Thanksgiving, and he's more of a week-of-Christmas kind of guy. We always get a real tree, but I've got the keeping-it-alive thing down pat.

Anyway - I think all couples have different ideas on how to do things... everyone I talk to seems to have one that likes the tree up early and one that likes to wait.. *sigh*

The only thing we can agree on is that he wants cookie baking to start the weekend after Thanksgiving and go all the way up to Christmas eve! lol

Jim 2004-12-13 05:42 PM

Oh the cookie thing. I am living on store bought this year. My mother used to make all the Christmas cookies and I have to find her recipes for next year :)

Greenguy 2004-12-13 05:45 PM

The Bitch is upstairs making cookies right now - the smell is fantastic :D

AcidMaX 2004-12-13 05:45 PM

My wife and I havn't put up a christmas tree in about 3-4 years since we are usually never home for Christmas as we are spending time with family. However, she got a wild hair yesterday and we put it up. It actually got me in the Christmas spirit a little :D

The Bitch and I should do a recipe swap... I should have known she would be a good baker - you're SO spoiled rotten!

Be pagan has it advantages.. we've had the Hanukkah bush up now for a week, i have a Yule log ready to go for the 21st and there will be a tree going up the Sunday before xmas.

My pink flamingos add a 'festive' glow to the red/white and green all my neighbors find so endearing.
