forums on a linklist/tgp...
hey everybody, ive been creating a new site for quite a while now, and its almost finished. I would like to have some forums for visitors to come to, where they can upload pictures from their pc to share with other forum users (of course the max upload would only be 200k or so)
now, ive seen several sites that do this, mostly tgp's, such as madthumbs.com - i am wondering what the risks are for me as the webmaster, having users post copyrighted images on a forum i created... i assume their is a way to get around it with the terms of service? so that users know THEY are responsible, and basically a disclaimer saying im NOT responsible? of course if i had any complaints from a sponsor i would remove a thread right away... i really want to do this because it will get alot of return visitors, as they will have to goto my main linklist in order to log into the forums. It seems risky to me, but ive seen so many others do it, very large sites too, and it doesnt seem that they ever get in trouble by sponsors. If i get alot of replies about how this is a bad idea to let them upload pictures, i will just make it no upload where they can just post links to galleries they like. i guess my main question is how do some of these large sites create these forums without having to worry to largely about what people post? I will moderate forums and quickly delete anything illegal of course. pleae give me your comments and suggestions!! thanks :) |
That's all I need - my surfers talking to each other aobut how I try toget them to join paysites :D
Also, you might want to reconsider the picture uploading thing - copyrights & 2257 & all. |

It is a poor idea IMO and illegal in the most part as GG said.. :( DD |
ok
alright, thanks for the advice, i definitly wont even bother with forums then, too much of a hassle to moderate them and keep everything legal, and the members happy. if not impossible... hehe
thanks gg and dd |
I would stray from that, there's other concepts you can use on your site to increase the activity amongst users. That is a good one but comes with lots of pains.

Photo-sharing is great and easy to setup. I got some good advice once from Dr B on this. Get yourself a lawyer to draft up a site disclaimer. Surfers love photo-sharing sites and it of course makes your site very sticky (with the comments theyt can add, it even becomes a little like a forum, but easier to moderate because you actually approve each file upload). You could also try adding free webcams and an online store. |
That was my 1st thing in adult that went for about 6 or 7 months.
Not picture uploading or hotlinking though. Ironically, depite a lot of repeat traffic, VERY few actually posted. I tried *every* possible idea to get the community going. Had models like Masuimi Max, Neriah Davis, and Sandy from Club Sandy post. Had a cool female moderator... Had polls, embedded pics and a very cool backend with far too much free porn. I really wouldn't want to deal with a pic post forum because it would take a LOT of time. Most people came just for the daily aebn vids and the daily pic galleries. |

To hate something that wont go away (ie surfer forums) is ignorance at is finest. To work out solutions is professionalism Go throw some rocks at the moon :) |
