newcomer webmaster

Hello,

I have recently decided to become a webmaster.
I have heard that there are some people who make 3-4 k a month from this business. Is being a webmaster really so profitable? I have recently signed up with a free hosting provider.
My trial website is www.pornhome.com/arkholm
It has been couple of days since i decided and started to build up a website. I want to try a couple of free hosting sites before i actually decide to buy a dedicated/shared/collocated server and my own domain name. Can you make money from the free hosting provider domains or do you need to have your own domain name and dedicated server? Which paysites earn you the most money? Would you guys recommend me to sign up with specific sites that would bring money? What is the average amount of money you can make from this business after you setup your site(s) properly and get hits? Can a good webmaster make a couple thousand dollars per month? What is the best way to begin this business?

-Thanks in Advance.|bananna|

This is a very loaded batch of questions :D

I doubt anyone here is going to tell you how much tye make a month, but with any business venture (porn or mainstream, online or offline) the sky is really the limit.

If you are serious aobut this, I'd get my own domain & my own hosting now - using free server space & free domains is getting harder & harder these days (not too many people link to sites/pages on free hosting)

Welcome Arkholm :)

Spend couple of days reading. Use the search and find anything and everything about free sites and what they are. After that you can decide more wisely if it's something you really want to do.

Good luck :)

Wow, that is a loaded question.

Yes, there are webmasters who make 3-4k off websites. There are some who make double and triple that off websites in a months time.

Don't take that information and think you can jump into the web biz and have buckets of money come pouring into your lap. It's not an easy buisness to win at. Very cut throught and thouraly saturated.

My advice to anyone just starting out would be to cram your brain with as much information on ecommerce as possible.

There are alot of things that would help to know when getting into this. And a million more you need to know to begin.

Good luck, Read Read Research & Read some more.

Yes it definitely can be done - some do it in a years time - some can do it quicker - and some people decide they know whats best and never take advice and read and = never get there :)
You came to the right place though :)

another question

First of all Thanks to everybody who submitted replies to my
questions. I have another question. Can you make money
with free hosting providers. I mean somewhere between 500 to
1k a month so that i can skip to a shared or collocated server which will help me use my own domain name to create a high quality site? I want to try the free service providers before spending money to have a shared (maybe a dedicated) server.|pcsucks|

arkholm,

99% of the people here.. and 100% of the long-term webmasters will tell you now... "DON"T mess with free hosting!".(In fact there is no 'free hosting' - it costs you $$ either way)

Set yourself a budget
Get a decent small host acct
and a domain name or two
..then come and read and ask here when you have questions..

Spending 25-50$ now might make all the difference to your porn webmaster career :D

well...

Ok Guys,

Here is another one:
Lets say i decided to get a domain name and shared hosting
does it matter if i get a domain name which ends with .net
rather than .com? Is my page more likely to appear on top on a search engine query if it ends with .com vs .net? Are prices different for .NET and .COM domain name registration?

arkholm,

For the most part the extension of a domain does not matter.

Links to..
Links from..
and structure of the pages on the daomin will have the most bearing on where you place in the SE's

Prices are the same for .com and .net in most places.

If you have a shitload of porn on your computer, maybe it's not a good idea to let your 12 year old on it. I don't let my kids in my room to look at the porn mags & movies that I have.

Password protect the computer & go online with him (or get him his own & set up some parental controls)

use bestcrypt to make a virtula drive that you unmount when you are done, put all your porn stuff there.. install net nanny or somethin like that also.. and you should be fine.. but the best solution has already been mentioned.. just get a seperate comp.
