What sells best to first time surfers?
 

Okay, christmas is coming, Santa is going to drop off PCs, DSL and cable modems, and come about 9PM christmas day, a bunch of fresh new surfers will be looking for that online porn people have talked about for so long.

So, in your opinion, what sells best for newbie surfers?

j/k, its hard to tell really because there is no way to truely measure this so we end up only guessing...

they may or may not be comfortable with using cc's online because either they are afraid of using them online or theya re totally oblivious to the dangers.... Im guessing what usually sells well will sell well with newbie surfers

This is where SE listings really come in handy. Reality is a good one I think. New surfers are really gullible I bet thinking that real people are fucking on these pay sites.

I hope google fixes itself soon. I'm still seeing r@pe and B@ast sites for "free mpegs" on pages 1 and 2 where I use to be. :(

This is true. And it isn't just the folks on dial up with a 10 year old Packard Bell pc living East Bumfuck either. I have a friend that most would consider to be very intelligent, horribly well read, and an excellent short fiction writer who honestly believed that sites like Backstreet Blowjobs were real. He really fell for the low quality amateurish pics. I was blown away by that. That's one of the reasons I like 'talking porn' with people outside the biz. Some call it bar hopping. I call it market research.

I actually make a pretty good chunck of change doing this for people who are too stupid to use Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D on their own - There are LOTS of those around.

IMHO this is overhyped... Since everybody and their mothers and grandmothers already have computers and internet access, how many new surfers do you think will occur on Christmas?

This might have been true 2 or 3 or 4 years ago... but now everyone has a computer. And even if there are 1 million 'happy new surfers' as you put it how many of them will search for porn and how many of them are willing to pay for porn? And how many of them will end on your sites? And how many of them will actually subscribe for a porn site?

This might work for some of the big sponsors though, making thousands of subscriptions a day. If they increase their SU 10% its cool... But this 10% is distributed among all their webmasters. So basicly everyone gets 1 or 2 SUs... Let them be 10 signups...

I mean... 10 signups will make you rich? or 20? Hell, let them be 30 signups. Won't make a difference. Might pay the hosting though |santa|

I remember hearing recently that less than 1/2 of the homes in America had a computer, so there's still a lot of potential newbies :)

A friend of mine recently bought a computer (his first one) and the first thing he was searching for was (sex)chat.

After some time he also tried some paysites (pay per minute).
He doesn't have a creditcard so that's not working for him :-)

Possibly so. OTOH, I find the big surge in traffic comes well after the holidays, when the college kids get back to their free broadband accounts and start catching up on all the porn they missed while they were stuck at home with the family. ;)

That is true - big name things like Playboy, Hustler, Mr Skin, etc will probably catch their eye & they'll probably feel comfortable pulling the CC out with a name that they've heard of before.

i would think softcore type of sites, dialers, cam sites, and dating sites.

I would think it would be sex chats and dating sites.

basically push what you were good at already before the holidays. if holidays have any effect then better numbers will come by itself.

newbies get their internet all the time. you don't have to wait for holiday season to stumble upon newbies, you just have to know where newbies are or otherwise know how to sell to savvy surfers.
