What's your two cents? About linking on your gallery pages?
I was just wondering what everyone thinks, maybe get some feedback. I see some webmasters have links to their second gallery on their first gallery. Then I see webmasters like myself that only have a link back to the menu page. I always do it this way because it makes the surfer go back to my menu page which is pretty laid out with most my ads. If they go from one gallery to the next then they leave a bit quicker. From my stats I see more clicks to sponsor links from the second gallery then from the first gallery. I guess if the surfer likes what he sees on the first gallery then he is bound to go onto the next gallery to see more and then onto the sponsor.
What do you guys think? Not looking for any insider secrets just wanted to see how everyone else lays out their free sites! |thumb |
I always make the surfer go back to the main page if he/she wants to see the 2nd gallery. The way I see it my job is to present them with as many opporunities to click ads as possible and I'm not doing that if I have a link from Gallery 1 to Gallery 2.

lemmy is right, the more times you present the advertisements to the surfers the more chance they have of clicking it...

I don't have any links back to the main page on my free sites (except for the copyright stuff really small on the bottom) They can click an ad or click their back button :)

Hey, we agree on something :)
Let 'em use the back button. |
I'm sure we agree on many things :D

I used to add a 'back to main' link on the galleries, but I've dropped that bad habit. I've never linked from one gallery to the other. If the surfer can't find their way around a four page site on their own, they should up the dosage on their meds. They get no more links from me than absolutely necessary. I'm not going to click their mouse or jerk them off either. (Unless they're paying)

I use a link back to the menu from the gallery pages because from what I understand and in my experience, that makes free sites a bit more search engine friendly. I'm happiest if surfers never even get to my actual image pages. ;) Not that it happens as often as I'd like...
