coffee

I got a pound of very yummy coffee from a friend for christmas, its called sumatran, has anyone else tried it?

It is supposed to be one of the strongest coffees made, and i just brewed my first pot, and WOW, it tastes like every cup has 2 shots of espresso in it! LOL

Does anyone have any recommendations on good STRONG coffees to buy? If you can find this one i highly suggest trying it out, im very happy with my early present :D

ve been up all night workin non stop on my new linklist (porn-folder.com) and im apparently not going to bed any time soon since i just made this coffee LOL.

have a good wednesday everyone, may the signup monkey fling some sales at you today. |santa|

I love my morning coffee strong too... but I am drinking only once nowadays then switch to green tea, 5-6 cups a day. It is not only the brand but the way you make it, the amount of coffee you are using...

Signup monkey? I thought it was the porn gods? Well whatever but sales are always good.

Mmmm...coffee. I've had Sumatran at a bookstore cafe and it tasted like coffee to me. I've been told it's strong so I assume that the heavily pierced, though wholesomely busty, chicks behind the counter water it down a tad.

I order mine online from this place: Spot-a-java
They have the best deal i've found for Jamaican Blue Mountain which is what i brew. What i buy when i can find it is Dunkin' cuz for me, nothing else compares.. somehow brewed at home just isn't the same.

The Espresso Roast from Porto Rico Importing Co. in NY is quite strong. I remember the beans were OILY, so they were very hard roasted.
But 234,0º from Kahls is a tad better and stronger. My favorite coffee :)

Like digifan said, it's a lot how you prepare it. The easiest way to get good coffee is to use a chambord (coffee press) and good water. Crap water = crap coffee. I used the exact same beans at a friends place that I use at home and it tasted like two different coffees.

I agree full heartedly that it is more how you prepare it. Not much in the ways of advice in that field, considering I grew up drinking IHOP coffee making it my standard. Though, if anyone ever gets the chance to drink a Columbano, I would suggest to take it and run with it. I have only found a few local coffee houses that will make one, but damn! The dirty basics is being a half cup of straight espresso brewed through some form of sugar (I can't remember what kind right now, though I guess any sugar will do). Gah! This stuff wired me for four days.

French Roast & Italian roasts are both quite nice.

We are talking beans here, right?

I like Kona. My little Capresso has about had it though and getting good beans if you get hooked can be expensive.

I was drinking like 4 cups a day of Kona.

i only want brew hot cofee evry morning and night

I'm a true gourmet, so anything that comes in a can and can be brewed quickly and tastes right after I drown it with french vanilla creamer- that's the coffee for me. I think the exotic brand that I'm drinking this week is 'Folgers'. (Not sure how you pronounce that.) It looks Hungarian to me. I can assure that monkeys have never shit out my coffee grounds though. I don't mind the stuff that Juan Valdez exports, you know, when I ever a want a little South American spice in my life.

I'm so provincial, it's just plain silly.

You could always go for some Kopi Luwak but it's very expensive and might be considered a bit of an epicurian oddity(or something Opti would drink) rather than something the normal 'joe' would buy.|jester|

We love Bustelo at my house. It's cheap, strong, and flavorful Cuban-style coffee. They sell it in most supermarkets around here (Boston), and you can also find it at ethnic markets catering to Latinos. We used to do the grind-the-beans routine, but Bustelo is so tasty and easy that we don't bother anymore.

Ever tried Bonca? My father used to bring tons of it when he was passing thru Spain, I think that's the only place they sell it.

Here in Bulgaria we drink a lot of coffee prepared in turshkish style :) You use a copper vessel to prepare it called "Turkish coffee-pot" (fuck! that's the only thing I found as an english translation of djezve in the dictionary).

You put it in the vessel finely ground together with the sugar and wait for it to boil. After you drink your cup there's a thick sediment of coffee on the bottom of it.The blackest coffee I've ever seen and it's very tasty AND strong.

Also if you turn the cup bottom up and wait for a few minutes, the coffee sedmient will scamp on the cup sides and will draw shapes that, the fortune tellers say, can predict the future :)

I have had this coffee a number of times when I was living in Istanbul. It is not nearly as popular as the local chai though.

docholly 2004-12-24 06:46 AM

it's 244am in Vegas.. i could use a cup from each of you....
