Exit button on FreeSites - Qn.

Hey all.

The EXIT button on FS I relise has to be non-adult related but is that limited to casinos?

I'm just trying to clarify a point and not waste others time. I'm not sure though as it's a similar 18+ realm?

Regards, N

Well if your saying if your not an adult exit here it would make sense for it be a non adult link

nekrom 2004-12-28 08:54 AM

Your right, but in the same aspects I see numerous FS linking there EXIT buttons to Adult humor sites, to cell phone merchindies accessible via validated cc's.

Maybe I should re-phrase the question to:

"Is a casino link allowable as apposed to a penis pill banner on the index.html page"

Thanks for your reply.

Of course the money making school says why put an exit button on something when you want to keep them? :)

nekrom 2004-12-28 09:12 AM

It's because when their wife suddenly comes into the room they can EXIT quickly. |angry|

That's what the little red X in the top corner of the browser is for... :-)

Exit links should not go to porn. That's all.

I looked… I don't see a red X in the top corner of my browser.

I used to put exit links in my free sites just to sell tshirts, but I never sold a single shirt and nearly no one clicks an exit link. So I dropped them. I consider them a waste of effort.

I don't use exit links on my free sites.

I have to say though, as a LL owner, I get a little miffed when I have a 3 link sponsor rule and people use those three links AND use a sponsor link (non-adult or whatever) on the exit button. I let it go since every other LL does, but to me, that seems like 4 sponsor links.

Well, then, I guess you have to just sit there and look. |jester|

I feel bad for yahoo. LOL. Actually, it was just habit and has gotten carried over.

But yeah- I should ditch the exit link too.

are you guys saying that you wouldn't use an exit link at all? so basically you would have a warning and if they were underage or whatever they could click the back button. Do you think that not having an exit link will make any difference if someday you need to cya??

really, I agree, why give them an exit link if it's not making you any money?

That's exactly what I'm saying but it all comes down to personal preference I guess. Why waste a piece of prime real estate with an exit link to.... nothing that'll make you $$?

Yeah exactly, lol. I tell em if they shouldnt be on the page or dont agree to the terms, then click your Back Button NOW.

Seems better for everyone that way.. I mean, an Exit link to javascript:history.back() would work too for those who insist on an Exit link, hehe.

I've actually been surprised at the amount of traffic that goes to my exit link. I mean, it's not much at all, but it's more than I'd expect. I figure most of it is link list reviewers and bots, but hey - it's one more chance for me to make money - not that I have, yet, but it's a chance. ;) (I do link to a non-porn affiliate program.)

I send them to my page full of retailers. I get a commission from each sale I make. It's not much, but it's keeps me in bubble gum.
