Permanent gallery position
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to get my tgp setup and was wondering what is the norm for permanent gallery positions? I realize that not everyone does it the same, but would like to get some idea of what others do. Lets say the main page categories have 25 each. Should they be every 3rd or 5th? Lets say the archives have 200 each. Do you spread them out more or leave it the same and use more free oriented galleries? Any help would be appreciated... :) LilBiggz |
Those are big numbers if you are putting them on a single page, 200 links with descriptions plus whatever else you have on it, would load too slow for most surfers. |sad|

Surfn,
Your really bringing me down dude... LilBiggz is now LilMedium That just don't sound right man... |sad| |
Ok well either this was a really stupid question or I have tried to unlock an ancient Chinese secret and have been shunned forever... lmao |waves|

Hmm, not a dumb question. Vague maybe, but not dumb |peace| |ufo|

You run a tgp correct Surfn?
|
I own and operate 6. 1 general, 5 niche specific.
|
So how do you handle permanent galleries? If you don't mind me asking...
|
I place them in their cats in my archives. 50-100 per page, it varies on my tgp's, some have longer descriptions than others. My rule of thumb is if the page doesn't load in 3 seconds or less I reduce the number of links on that page. |rasta|
I run a bot to check the the links. I can't say how often because the cheaters would love to know. ;) |
Kewl, I basically am just kicking around autogallery right now and trying to get some ideas. The site originally had 10 links in 12 categories on the main and about 100 in the archives, at this point I'm thinking that is probably a better way to go then 25 - 200...
I don't really have a prob with load time as there is very minimal advertising on the tgp itself. I plan to do my selling off the galleries their selves... Even at that it's probably too much for some surfers, so starting out a bit smaller may not be such a bad thing... |
To be honest I'm not sure I know what you mean.

Dr B doesn't archive either.

I don't want to send them to outer space every time they they click a link. I want to build some kind of trust between me and my traffic and make a littl;e cash in the proccess. Not saying that's what Dr. B does because I know for a fact that he does not. Their is a lot of improvement that can take place in tgp and I believe it starts with gaining back the trust of the surfer to begin with... JMO |
Running a link bot and keeping your archives clean is a pain in the arse. That's why some webmasters stop. It doesn't bother me because i have a good fast method to remove a link.
If you want to build trust make it load fast and make the links start to appear without scrolling. Don't do popups or popunders and bullshit. They will be back daily :) |
I like the way you think Surfn ,
To be real honest I could give a shit If I sell one membership off my tgp.... I just want to give a surfer a chance to acually find what he wants and then maybe sell him a membertship... Novel I know, but may be effective.... Thanks for the imput.... |
