New trend : more recips ?

Hi, today I again came across the site with 20 recips on the index page. When I first saw that I thought "No way this guy's gonna get listed" then I checked cleo's links- he's listed, hoes - the same, link-o-rama - same thing, now on penisbot with low tier.
Example:

http://www.sluttiebitches.com/yummy-...bes/index.html

So is it now ok to put so many recips on the warning page ?
In my opinion its good because this way the page's going to grow in PR more.

at least these recips look good
if i had a linksite i would list him too :D

MrMaryLou 2005-01-16 07:37 AM

As said many times before it depends on how the webmaster lays them out :)

hmm

ive REALLY wanted to do recips like this, just been afraid i wouldnt be listed i guess :P but since this comes up so often, and these sites are getting listed, i think its about time to redo my recips :)

plateman 2005-01-16 11:38 AM

I been running 14 - 18 and getting listed about everywhere and if they look good its just more traffic on that page that can swirl around to the other lists..

Look at the overall site. Nice personality through images and bg and color scheme; it's just what you'd call a nice site.
Clean, easy to navigate, no evil monkeys hiding in the closet.

docholly 2005-01-16 11:56 AM

sure a hell looks better than recepts streaming down and across the page just to get them to fit.. well laid out site, great scheme that follows thru, not over used content.. and nice clean recept table (looking kind of familiar... |jester| ) i'd take that any day.

LOOK OK?

Can some of you linklist owners and reviewers comment on my new recip table? I just built it, and want to make sure it looks "nice" and that everyone is happy with their recip (they are complete text versions of required recips)

please comment! thanks guys |shake|

The biggest I ever listed had 26 or 28 return link on it - but it looked so good, there was not at issue.

I see some returns that only have 4 or 5, but they are all randomly sized required return links, no two even loo similar, and they look UUUUGGGGLY all together

The last time I re-did my return links, I looked at what GG adn a few others were doing, and made mine within a few points one side or the other. Now you can put our return links together and they look good. Same with Cleo's, hoes, and a few others.

It's all in the way you work it... :-)

I always thought like that: the more recips per page the more traffic and PR linklist gets.
Am I wrong?

stuveltje 2005-01-16 02:02 PM

i dont mind the more receips made that way but the sites i see with all those different size of linkbacks and almost take my whole screen ( i work on 800x600) it drives me nuts to look at that|violin|

ponygirl 2005-01-16 02:10 PM

there have been a few threads where this issue has been discussed...I got the idea that most LLs liked their own recips, for branding etc. I don't mind using the recips provided, most of the time I can get them into a table where it looks pretty balanced (I thought lol) and I think they do look nice...

having said that, if everyone is going to accept the plain text links then I think you will see more sites choosing to use them, myself included.

so it seems that the bottom line is that it doesn't matter what recip you use, as long as it's tabled nicely?

do LL owners care if they start seeing these text links looking the same on all the sites that are submitted?

i think most have the issue if you gonna change the receip that you leave the code(the urls) like they want, if you do that you still can change the look of the receip.|waves|

Precisely. I list that guy's sites regularly because the recip table looks clean. Neticule, your new table looks fine to me, except that my recip isn't on it. |rasta|

Thanks for the replys, Ok I'll try to make a nice, clean recip table with 20 LL's for my next freesite. Wish me luck ;-)

Useless 2005-01-16 08:21 PM

I'd love to build a table like that, but I always feel that straying from a site's orginal recip is an insult to the owner. Yes, I realize that I'm nuts and that if the owners had a problem with that, they would have put their collective foot down by now.

I consider myself to be index page challenged. I simply can't think of any new or creative layouts for that damn page, especially with my giant recip table. I have a table that I use that stays basically the same, but for each new site I take the bottom row of recips and bring it to the top of the table in some strange attempt to give each link list a shot at the top row. I'd love to squeeze in another row of three, but I'm afraid I'd that table will become just to massive. Example: http://www.whoringwives.com/free/cum_slurping_wife/

I sorta feel the same way. But, also- it's easier just to use the original recips. :)

I used to have 18-21 recips and nearly all were OK with that-except Marc at Hoes.

His rankings are good enough for me to split recips into two pages.

I'm with you UW - and maybe I feel there's more of a chance of getting listed if I use the recips...lol

I would think that if you go through the trouble of creating the recip the way you want it to look, you'd want people to use it. Most of them are pretty much ok, if they are all around the same size & shape I think it looks pretty good.

I'll keep using them until they tell us not to :)

this website is laid out recips pretty good, i would certainly list it, even i put 15 recips on my site...

sometimes freesites have 6 recips but the way sites r designed, it looks like tooo much sometimes its just gross...

Beware the Rant

There have been several discussions lately regarding recepts and what they look like and who they are listed with..

and since Tart & I, in a joint effort to streamline our build, submit, forget, process..spent several days in analysing our traffic vs sales etc. We decided to add 32 new sites to our submit process bringing the total to 64. We randomly chose what recept went where unless specifically on a site like PB or Hoes it says you get higher ranking if you list their secondary site.

Our submits span all sizes from brand NEW LL, to those who've been around since 1896. |jester|

and we get mail.. NOT from larger more experienced LL owners who know the value of PR and Linkback etc.. but from mostly new to semi medium site owners who want us to change THEIR recept or location or add in title tags or unlink some text or change the name of their listing (which has nothing to do with the table THEY posted on THEIR site). I even got an email from someone who decided last month, after listing oh 14 or 15 sites, now will take at most 12 recepts. No biggie.. find and replace works really well on my computer..

and what is really funny is those who think they know who and who will not list sites. I mean seriously.. do you have nothing else to do than to speculate on if your recept is on with MrBigLinkList that i wasted MY time to put it there to 'fool' you?? |jester| .. and Mishi does list our site.. |waves|

SE experts will tell you it's not the repetitive key words in your link or your puce/purple color scheme, cuz the spiders don't care. They care that "oh XXX freesites is listed "ongoldenblond" and it's not spammed with key words, it's on a different server so it must be a different site.. bam.. up the PR..

as a reviewer i'm happy to see my link with the name and URL spelled correctly.. If it's in a table and it looks nice, even if it's not my specific link, i'm happy too. becuase i know that i'm going to get SOMETHING from it..

and yes i'm on a rant today.. old age allows me some latitude.. |rasta|

but the bottom line is, for me anyway, it's your business, list if you want, don't list if you don't want.. don't worry about who else is listing/not listing.. if you think it looks good, as Alex said and it has 28 recepts, list away.. if it sux with 6 banner..reject.. i'd worry more about quality and content of the sites you are listing rather then whether the recept table got the right shade of black to match your site.

end of rant!!

and THANK YOU to all the sites that list us.. we truly appreciate it.

|roses| |smooch|

Tart 2005-01-17 10:03 AM

Usually I don't comment much as I like keeping a low profile (can't be pissing off the review gods/goddesses) but I have to "ditto" what Holly said. Doing recips has certainly become my least fav part of doing sites (and I never thought anything would beat out writing sales text!)

Thank you for making me smile. :) Come to Phoenix! (That goes for you, too, Tart.)

plateman 2005-01-18 12:25 PM

in fact the doorway pages I get I would much rather have 12 to 16 recips on it and I may have a rule soon that you must have 12 to get listed but that rule is for non regulars..
