Anybody having Trouble Submitting to Blue Wave?

I got an email from a webmaster saying that our submission page uses up all of his CPU resources, so he has to close down his browser. I don't see any problem when I test-submit. Is anybody else having this problem at Blue Wave? His email follows:

"There's something in your submit page that's creating a 100% cpu utilization situation on my submitters computer. Usually the submit page will not fully load...just hangs there...and the machine starts running extremely slow. The only way to correct the issue on this end...is to actually end the process in Win XP. That seems to free up the cpu again...and the machine is fine.
This is only happening on your site...so I don't think it's anything on this end..."

Hello man,

This image:

http://i.entier.ecosm.com/img/?wrrbwqeq

As you can see it's not only an image - that's a script that prints an image at the end of it's execution. The point is - the script that's running there is trying to create a Cookie on the surfer's PC. In case that the site is not able to create the cookie for some reason it may end in endless loop - creating another and another cookie, which is not identified that is there. My point is - use some other banner or contact your sponsor. These guys that are trying to submit should probably:

1. Update to the latest version of IE
2. Accept cookies, decrease the protection level of the browser and change other similiar settings in their browsers
3. Switch to Firefox :)

Hi there Ann |waves|

Was my submitter having the problem...as you know...

I didn't actually check it with my machine...after seeing the response on the other box...didn't wanna risk this one...lol.

Clickbuster's comments sure sound right. I do have firewalls and virus protection running on the machine in question. Everything is fully up to date with the latest version of IE though...so don't think that would help.

Looks like perhaps it's time to get Roboform working with Firefox...that should eliminate the trouble I would think |shake|

Thanks, Clickbuster and all. We've removed that ad script for Mailwasher Pro that you thought might be causing a problem for some. Working now, MrYum?

MrYum 2005-01-18 12:14 AM

Yep Ann...just checked it and everything looks fine now |bananna|

I'll let my submitter know we're good to go for tomorrows submissions :)

Ann...thanks much for getting on that so quickly...and for all the listings...a pleasure doing business with you |shake|

And Clickbuster...great catch! You rock buddy!

MrYum 2005-01-18 08:52 AM

Damn...looks like I spoke too soon...

Submit page is fine now...but the confirmation/thanks page still creates the same hang up.

Do you by chance have the same banner on that page?

Sorry for the hassle Ann :(

Very surprised I'm the only one seeing this...given how much security everyone has to run these days...

MrYum 2005-01-18 10:28 AM

Problem 'appears' to be solved on this end :)

Installed the Firefox plugin for Roboform...just did a submit...and it went through fine.

Firefox seems to hang momentarily on the thanks page...cpu utilization spikes...then normalizes...spikes again a few times, but always normalizes again. Seems as though Firefox is dealing with the loop issue much better than IE...big surprise there! lol

Does seem as though there's a hiccup with that sponsor banner trying to set a cookie, but at least Firefox deals with it :)

Sooo, once again...looks like we're good to go!

Thanks again Ann...and thanks again Clickbuster |shake|

Was a good excuse to get Firefox working with RF anyway...much safer browsing :)

ClickBuster 2005-01-18 11:18 AM

Hehe, I'm glad I could help :)

Have fun!

We'll check and see if we have the Mailwasher banner on the confirmation page, too. If we do, we'll get rid of it. Normally, I avoid using banners served off the sponsor's bandwidth, but Mailwasher's don't work unless you do it that way.

Update: found the banner on the confirmation page. We're removing it as I speak.

MrYum 2005-01-18 06:08 PM

Yea, I know what you mean Ann...I try to avoid sponsor served banners for the same reason. But, I do have one that only works that way too...hmmm...better check that sucker! lol

Again, thanks very much for the quick response...really is a pleasure working with you |shake|

I use IE to submit, and Blue Links hangs terribly for me when it opens the successful submit page.

I thought perhaps it was just me. :)
