disappearing threads?

What happened to this thread? Seems like it fell off into the bermuda triangle...

Hello xxxjay,

Kush has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - I can't believe this shit! - in the General Business Knowledge forum of Greenguy And Jim's Ultimate Webmaster Board.

Jay, Kush deleted the thread, see the thread titled "I did the smart thing".

It's too bad, admittedly the thread was mostly the same old shit, but there were a couple things that were holding my interest.

Jim 2003-10-14 01:44 PM

Not sure what happened to it...
I wouldn't think it would get deleted.

amadman 2003-10-14 01:45 PM

I guess Kush deleted it.

Just in case you didnt see his other thread.

amadman 2003-10-14 01:47 PM

Sorry.

As usual I am a day late.

Or a minute late in this case |jester|

xxxjay 2003-10-14 02:01 PM

I thought it was a decent thread. The SE ones are the threads that usually interest me.

Kush 2003-10-14 02:39 PM

I deleted it.

Urb's words kind of gave me a scare, and I do believe in the whole karma thing.....

These days I like to play it better safe than sorry, perhaps a little too safe |couch|

I guess bottom line is that I didn't want the guy trying to seek revenge on me if he suddently got penalized and lost all his listings with that domain. Some people take shit personal and go to extremes to "get even."

I'd rather avoid it all together.

xxxjay 2003-10-14 02:44 PM

I've never heard of being able to delete a thread after a day.

Kush 2003-10-14 02:48 PM

I don't think there's a time limit here on how long until you can't edit a post anymore. Most places limit it to anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes

urb 2003-10-14 03:22 PM

I didn't mean to scare anyone, I try to keep my posts factual (when I'm not taking the piss).

I might be paranoid, but that's kept me online and out of trouble for quite a long time. None of you actually know me or what I do.

There is something to be said for keeping your cards hidden.

xxxjay 2003-10-14 03:42 PM

URB - you scaring me...

URB = John Ashcrap?

Just yankin your chain |knockout|

Hmmm - trying to follow the logic here.
Deleting an on topic, though controvesial thread, on an adult webmaster board is better than possible reprisals from a like wise webmaster that may have been on to something.

Yes, they can get even and some of them are extreme.
But isn't a New Thread called "DNS attack I need help" better than deleting a thread that may actually benefit us all?

I have always viewed GG&Jim as an Open Forum for hardworking adult webmasters. I don't always agree with every practice, thread or post.
I hope you get my point with no hard feelings. I can agree to disagree.

Just my 2 cents - 1.56 cents in Canada.
