TGP question
 

I´m playing around with a tgp just to get familiar with the script (I´m using autogallery free for the beginning). I didn´t close the submission link and finally got submissions.

So far, so good. But I´m wandering about hte submitted galleries and I have a certain strange feeling about them.

There are no real sponsor links on the galleries. The "sponsor" link on the submitted gallery is fake. It leads to a copy of the gallery and on this one there aren´t sponsor links, too.

There are hidden links - some little graphic points which are links when you look on the source code. I didn´t click those links but what the hell does a submission is good for, if there aren´t sponsor links on it?

Any known tricks? Should I close the submission page?

To me, that almost sounds like some sort of autosubmitter testing things.

I asked this question on another board, and was told by Shemp to never accept anything that didn't have a sponsor link. He said...loose quote...that it is guaranteed to redirect to something you won't want to be associated with.

ie, c**** p***, or any other bad thing


Also, someone...Stouch, I think...ran a whois, and told me that the galleries in question were being hosted at some place that is notorious for cheaters. I can't recall the name of the place, and I'm on the way out the door, so I don't have time to go look the post up.

Yes, you were right. i checked it out and found out that those strange hidden links lead to sites which try to put some spyware, trojans and other shit on my site. It was blocked by my firewall, but I´m sure surfers won´t be "very amused".

So Iclosed the submission site and will open it when I update to another script which will prevent those things.

I'm considering making one or two private sites into public tgp's/list sites and I do believe I'll immediately go to private submit status if I do. For example only advertise the webmaster page on 1 or 2 boards and thats it. Dont even link to it form the site itself, lol :)

Seems to be so. But the amazing thing was that I never promoted the site, just tried out the script, template design and so on....

Never thought about the submissions before I checked the galleries out because of the huge amount of submitted pages.

I get the the impression that some of these cheats have their own spider running which is only searching servers for known script URLs!

A friend of mine, who's a rather experienced TGP owner, opened a new site last year, and he thought to keep the submit password free.
Within 3 days he was being flooded with cheating autosubmit galleries!

And a gallery like you describe will be most deffinitely re-directing surfers to the nastiest things available on the web.

First of all I closed the submission page and checked the stats of the past. There was a spider checking URL´s for different things: tgp submitting, ccbill admin, and so on.

No, I didn´t look for a script yet, because I was a little bit ill for the last two days.

If she wasn't, I wouldn't have said so. :)
