New to making free sites

Very new, actually. I just put together my first 6 last night and would like to know what link list owners think of them. Where I have them posted right now is not where they will remain, and I will not be posting them until I get at least one for each of our sites done. I just want to know if I am on the right track with how to put these together. Do I have too much on them... not enough... just right... does my design suck... etcetera. The page I put together (as basic as can be) with the link to the 6 is at http://www.skippyandscooter.com/testing/index.html I would appreciate any help you can give me on this.

I dont see any thing wrong with them

but I am sure your gonna find much tougher critics around here

I think that table with the "Highly Recommended Websites" is gonna cause you problems. Most link lists have a limit of around 3 outgoing links to sponsors (or your own paysites).

Most link list will want to be above your Enter link as well.

Get rid of the "Highly Recommended Websites" table & the webmaster link - most link lists only allow 3 ads per page & that table puts you at 19.

Other than that, there's nothing else "wrong" with the site as far as Link List rules go - you can do some other stuff to the site (more ad text on the index for one)

Now, you build 6 sites that are pretty much exactly the same. Don't get in the habit of using the same template over & over. Fix this one up a bit & then start form scratch with another one :)

Then another one.

Then another one.

:)

Thanks, everyone. The "Recommended Websites" are our other pay sites, and I just figured I would put them on there for (hopefully) more traffic to them. I will remove that table. Since I am new to this I have been using the same template. My design skills aren't so great, but I will do my best to come up with something different for the other 12 I need to create. Thanks for the help, and I will be sure to put the link list buttons above my "Enter" link (when I am ready to submit them). Any other suggestions so far? Anything I should do differently on the 2nd page or the gallery pages, themselves? Or are they ok?

I'd say make sure you take advantage of the 3 outgoing links per page, i noticed on some of the main pages, you had only 2.

My point, which I guess I didn't get across that well, was to make a template & get it right & then worry about using it.

How long did you spend on the the other 5 sites on that template?

Now add in the time it takes to correct them.

:)

I didn't spend too much time on them. I pretty much just worked on them while waiting on other things (file transfers, tgp auto submissions, etc). Are you saying it is ok to use the same template for these types of sites, once I get them down? I thought you had discouraged that in your earlier reply.

If you have 30 templates & make one free site each day, no one will ever notice that you're using the same template every 30 days :D

But, if you submitted those 6 sites in the next 6 days, reviewers would start to catch on.

OK. That makes a lot more sense. I'll try to come up with a lot more templates then post a link on here to them for further review by those of you that know what you are talking about (unlike me). Thank you all for your input |bow|

It's been mentioned, but more/better ad copy on the index pages would be good.

On pages like this one
http://www.skippyandscooter.com/testing/kbp/kat.htm
I would throw some ad copy or a banner under the title graphic, rather than actually linking it... and with a nice obvious Enter link like that, you can get away with sliding it further down the page to make them scroll to get at the free content link.
