What's a doorway page?
well?
|
It is a page designed to be well read by the search engines as an entryway into a site.
|
A doorway is an entry page for a free site that isn't the site's true index. You see them named index1.html, index2.html, and so on. Sometimes they are named with a keyword rather than numbering them. If you put both an index.htm and an index.html in a free site's directory, both can be considered doorway pages.
It's just a thing submitters do so they can submit to every link list known to man. But it's horribly unpopular amongst most link list owners. EDIT: That damned Chris guy replied while I was typing.:D My reply is just more frees site specific. |
|
are those doorway pages?
|
Those are mirrors. That's prefered over doorway pages. That way each link list's recip is on a true index.
|
Like UW said, those are mirror sites (entire folders). Doorway pages are just that....single pages. Here's ths difference:
Mirrors: www.domain.com/folder24/index.htm www.domain.com/folder25/index.htm Doorway pages: www.domain.com/folder/index24.htm www.domain.com/folder/index25.htm |
great, so I don't have problems with that
|
Hi Guys,
Will Search Engines spot out and eliminate your site from ranking higher due to mirrors and doorways creating the same pages with different names?? |
Now I am really confused I thought it was a webpage with a picture of a door on it..
Maybe thats why I dont get listed.. |couch| |
They will definately spot it.
As I understand it - and this applies equally to doorways and mirrors (as defined above) - the s/e will pick one for its listings and discard the rest... which is frequently the one it saw/indexed first... There is a definate chance that you won't get consensus on that issue. |
