How Not To get listed

After a few admins this morning I gotta wonder what some of the free site makers are thinking :( Lets just say its pretty sad when you only list 24 sites out of 90 submits :( Whats the # 1 reason well there are many but most of them lack any originality at all just how many times can you list free sex pics come on folks. There is no major science to it three pages three adds each a recipt or so and bingo a free site but what I have been seeing dont even come close :( Am I alone here ?

docholly 2003-10-16 09:43 AM

i'd say you are probably in the majority..

i've been doing approvals for tpz for a few weeks now and some of the stuff coming through is horrible.. even the receipts are wrong.. at least 2 per review that have the receipt going to the submit page.. UH hello... |waves| or Goodbye..

and some of the stuff that wants to pass off as 'teen' is either pre-teen or borderline 30yr olds trying to pass..

*gawddess help i'm on a roll*..

how about the tranny submits that have no "surprise" in them.. we are suppose to Know they are 'trannys" cuz it says so on the banner???? show me some Dick baby, i'll take it anyway i can get it.. LMAO..

ok.. that's 3 kvetches.. rolled into 1..

Submits have gotten much worse.

Best I can figure out is that there are a bunch of new webmasters getting in the biz who have no idea what they are doing.

I can see by this time next year all submitters needing an account to submit to my lists.

amadman 2003-10-16 09:51 AM

Damn and I though I was just being a prick. I only list a small fraction of what I get submited as well.

What really sucks is that I get the same people sumiting the same kind of stuff even after I have emailed them about why they are not getting listed.|sad|

After a few e-mails I add them to my ban list. :(

Cleo I am thinking is auto submits kind of reminds me how they started out with tgps then went out of control :(

I agree, by the time I shut the doors on SexySurfn TGP I had a BL well over 50k and growing daily. My current traffic pumps are closed to the general public. I was going to open several new ones they are ready to go, but I don't like what I'm seeing out there. I can see why most are partners now. Even the hun is preparing to change his subs.

As Cleo mentioned it's a bunch of new webmasters that don't care about anyone’s rules.

MrMaryLou 2003-10-16 11:03 AM

Yes Surfn your so right here the damn spam machines can kill a tgp adim in a day I have seen some do over a 100 close to 200 submits an hour :(

Most change their damn emails like socks :(

This is one of the reasons you need to have IP level blocking, either single IPs or blocks. After I blocked off certain sections of Poland, Israel, and Russia, my submits came back down to much more normal levels.

Combine that with an itchy blacklist finger, the willingness to click the button to blow off all submits from an email address or IP, and such, and you can keep it somewhat under control.

I am sure that "type this in" systems like Tommy's or DangerDave's keep some of the riff-raff out, because they are too lazy to type anything.

I have one guy who has taken the top 100 search terms and is building sites with those names: "Free porn" "free sex" "teen sex" "cumshot pictures"... well, guess what? His submits appear to be excepted, but they are now just getting bit bucketed on the way by.

Oh yeah, one other good one is to check the reverse DNS for the IP submitting. If it comes back as the domain, or as a server, then you can be almost 100% assured that this was autosubmitted.

This post inspired me to head on over and see what sorts of sites have been accepted at LOR.

And I saw the description of one of my sites:

"Two Pages Of Some Rather Repetitive Shots Of This Wifey Sittin On A Chair"

:D

DangerDave 2003-10-16 06:55 PM

Box full of "deletes" down here too MML:(

Cleo I think some of it is longer term webmasters feeling the pinch too.

Lots of multi-submitters...:( false names and emails to get round the 1-2 per day rules.. get's them blacklisted here.

Alex, blocking IP's is the only way I have got things under control.. I had one guy complain after I blocked his IP... It was blocked after 80+ submissions were made.. of which ZERO were listed... and he complained he couldn't submit anymore.... |violin|

WOTD/Type-in variables definitely help.. but it's the 'human' filter that catches most...

I ban by DNS/Host now too... :(

DD

docholly 2003-10-16 08:23 PM

and DD i go look for your WOTD just to see if it's front or backward.. |jester|

MrMaryLou 2003-10-16 09:39 PM

I wish you know who in would do a WOTD hint hint :)

Cleo 2003-10-16 09:42 PM

DNA samples, all submits must include a DNA sample.

RawAlex 2003-10-17 11:34 AM

I am also seeing a bunch of poor spelling / poor english sites, "hot lesbians in sex actions" type stuff... plus the boatloads of "mom fucks young boy", those are 100% declines.

I am starting to track some other variables on submits to see if there is a trend or pattern. I think I might have another way to block out some of the more useless ones.

Alex

DangerDave 2003-10-17 04:20 PM

One day MML :D

I think DNA is the answer Cleo.

docholly - I have fun thinking them up sometimes :)

Banning by nameserver saved me a lot of those crap submits Alex...

As a newer webmaster, I have to say, this thread has given me hope...I submit to the majority of you (I'm new so it hasn't been a ton) but I have found no major problems with acceptance..other that the few stupid newbie mistakes that are easily fixable and one time is enough for me to learn from.

I don't submit to a ton of lists and I always try and dbl and triple check the rules and hand submit all free sites- the added time pays.

I've now started accepting submissions for my new thumb tgp - and I am beginning to understand how stupid mistakes and low quality can annoy the shit out of webmasters....

Tommy 2003-10-19 11:49 AM

ya know paid submits would take care of all these problems

This is for the last 24 hours to the minute, Not just yesterday
481 Accepted submissions in the last 24 hours
972 Rejected submissions in the last 24 hours

That seems to be the way this biz is headed for now.

I think paid submits will open doors to other problems :(

DangerDave 2003-10-19 05:39 PM

Paid aint gonna fix it completely...

but it may help....

Got another idea that might work.. just too early to tell yet.. :D

Another pain in the ass thing is when you see absolutely no recip link on the entire site when you specifficly asked for one on your signup page. If they are even to lazy or cheap to put up a link to a non sponsor site I almost start crying (I really do :) )

Tommy 2003-10-20 10:55 AM

ya know what I find really annoying.....
is when my link is the only one there.
