I had an abscess on my gum explode unexpectedly yesterday that I didn't know I had.

I have very good teeth and gums but I've had this one spot on my gum way in the back of my mouth above the very last molar that has always had a small lump and would get sore sometimes. My dentist has always told me that the pocket on that molar is too deep and it just gets irritated with food sometimes.

I floss and brush after every meal and have my teeth cleaned every three months. I'm told that I take outstanding care of my teeth and gums. Still this one area of my gum has always given me problems.

Yesterday I noticed that it was sore again and I stuck my finger back there and it exploded with puss and blood and is now completely gone with no more lump or anything back there. My gum for the first time in years feels and looks like the gums in the rest of my mouth.

Makes me wonder about my dentist.

No update yet...I am saving it for my trip to Buffalo :)

For the first time that I can remember my gum is not inflamed and swollen back in this area.

I've spent hundreds of dollars on this part of my mouth having it deep scaled and lots of other things done to it. All of these things have never made it get normal.

Today all my gums are healthy looking with no problems and didn't even cost anything but it sure was gross when it decided to fix itself.

I spent about a hour rinsing my month with salt water, peroxide, and Listerine after I spent about 10 minutes just spitting. It was really fucking gross.

For the first time that I can remember my gum there feels completely normal with no swelling or anything.

I'm planing on asking my dentist about it next time I go in for a cleaning and asking him why he never mentioned to me that this bump on my gum was actually an abscess. Mostly I want to know why he never did anything about it. I may be changing dentists after this.

well doc and dentist may think they know all, but we al find out that isnt true, yep i agree with you, i would change dentist too, still strange isnt it that an abscess can be there so long....good to hear your gum feels all good and healty again.....and yep kick your dentist ass :D oh btw i forgot to mention my daughter of 10 did got a lumb on her gum a couple of weeks a go she did mention to me after 3 days that the thing was growing, i went to the doc and not to the dentist, doc mention it was a kind of abscess and it would explode soon and i i didnt need to worrie, lol the next day my daughter told me it explode when she pushed it, i made her clean her mouth good with all kind of stuff and the first thing i asked her was, you didnt swallow that stuff didnt you, the abscess refilled the next 2 days but explode again and was gone, a lumb anywhere on your body.....even on your ass or in your mouth isnt good,a nice thing to keep in mind
