Looks like MS wants to patent unique idetifier session/user IDs for targetting individuals through its browser - applied for day before yesterday

If this is granted... Well let's say we are screwed.

I know what they are thinking: .NET client side doo-dads. However, this is so vague as to cover all forms of cookies, cookie redemption and ALL forms of ANY kind of program that so much as looks at a cookie.

A session identifier in asp is server based not client based so it's completely different from a cookie.
