I have a small problem
Anytime I try to go to a site that starts with "https", I get a no DNS error. I have tried it with Netscape, IE and even Mozilla.
Anyone have any idea what's up? |
Click on "tools"
then "Internet Options" then click "advanced tab" then click "restore defaults" go from there. Let me know if that doesn't solve it. |
Nope...didn't fix it :)
|
I think it must be an isp thing...I am about to call them. I mean, none of my browsers are working on these sites. And as you can imagine...they are all banks :)
|
Did you change your firewall settings recently?
|
Are you taking cookies that might be it ?
|
Maybe try different DNS numbers in your network settings.
I know that Bellsouth, my ISP, seems to love changing their numbers without warning. If you know the IP of a domain you can try putting that in instead of the domain name. If it works then it is a DNS issue. What happens if you try to go to https://204.251.10.43/ You should get invalid certificate, but the page should load. |
You mean you bank online??
|
I tried everything and guess what? Mozilla is the only browser that is now working on those sites.
Mozilla sucks |
I bank online, why not, it's fast and easy.
|
Apple Macs are ok coz they are mega-secure. But online banking with a PC is a little risky IMO.
Everyone is gonna tell me why I'm worng now. :) |

Your pc develops problems with SSL and the only way you can view secure servers is via a non-MS product. :(
Anyone know when the last MS critical update was? I'm pretty sure mine updated yesterday. Dunno what was in it. Have you tried a System Restore Jim? |

A bit off topic here but anyone know how to get rid of the hidden cache the MS does the old ie 5.0 stuff ?

Click the “history” folder. Click the “historyIE5” folder. Delete the “index.dat" file. Same if you are on NT drill down to the same place. |
Well, now mozilla is doing the same thing.
Updated my critical updates yesterday. |

Are you sure you didn't install something new or change your firewall settings? |
It's Norton...and, it says I do not have admin privileges so it will not let me fix or uninstall it.

1.) I reboot 2.) If the problem persists I do a system restore to before the problem. HTH |
All fixed...what a pain in the ass. Purchased a new norton internet security suite. It would not install because I didn't have supervisor permissions to uninstall the old one. I started deleting files and I guess I found the right one :)

I hate Norton products.. |pcsucks|
