Hubby & Son Leaving for Daytona 500
 

...they leave on Friday morning...

Any tips from those who've been or live in the area? We missed out on the infield pass deal with that new garage view/autograph area - but we are learning what to do NEXT year. This is our play-it-as-we-go trip to Daytona.

Oh, I would also avoid driving in Daytona.... they keep talking what a nightmare the traffic will be in that area.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately they will HAVE to drive in Daytona - we scheduled this trip WAY too late and couldn't get a hotel room in Daytona itself... but they got a nice room in Cocoa Beach right on the water. So should be good to be a little bit away from the chaos. They got a map from the Speedway with their tix that shows how to get to the parking area right from the freeway to avoid the city traffic. Hopefully that will help.

Thanks for that tip on the outside food MML - was wondering about that. California Speedway is expensive too - I imagined Daytona might be the same way.

So happy they get to go - we'll make plans for next year WAY ahead of time so they can stay walking distance from the Speedway.
