LL owners, do you also have this problem

I hate to be a dick but I am getting a bit pissed about the descriptions I'm getting with submissions. Do you all change or alter the descriptions or do you reject and move on? I understand that there are webmasters from all over the world but some of this stuff is outrageous. What do you do?

Greenguy 2005-02-16 07:27 PM

I rarely even look at the description that's sent with the submit (unless I know the submitter really well) I sorta like coming up with them myself :)

Kezza 2005-02-17 01:43 AM

Sometimes I correct bad english... other times I write my own... I dont reject for a bad description though

Fonz 2005-02-17 04:22 AM

I correct like 50% of the descriptions, sometimes when it makes no sense at all I just write a new one. I don't delete a site because of a bad description that often :)

Mateusz 2005-02-17 06:00 AM

well... I rather laught than get pissed when I see desc like this - no shit its real!
Cute sluts are doing handjob with their big natural tits
there were only 4 pics of girl touching the cock - but she was just grabbing it while giving head...
well... i sometimes edit it but when i see 'free pics of hot teens spreading pussy' i just reject it

Useless 2005-02-17 09:21 AM

I've become a description nazi at my TGP. When you have far many more submissions than you could sensibly approve, it's just easier to delete than repair. One of the strange things I have found is that the descriptions that I consider to be 'broken English' are quite often Americans according to whois. I don't like redundant statements like 'sexy hot' or 'busty big titted'. I especially dislike seeing the word nasty, then finding that the girl looks really sweet.

I could go on and on and on, but I won't.

MatrixFan 2005-02-17 07:03 PM

I normally will edit but sometimes they are so outrageous that I laugh and delete. It was frusrtating yesterday because out of 75 submissions I found 15 with "bad" descriptions.

What Cleo said heheh. Also, "The Best Matures Ever Click Here!" - Delete.
I like my descriptions to be complete sentences and to not repeat the title (usually to spam search words). I end up editing a lot of them.

MadMax 2005-02-18 08:23 AM

I'm constantly forced to edit descriptions. IMO, descriptions need to reflect the content of the site, not just be advertising text like so many of them are. I try to correct them as little as possible, since I believe that writing good descriptions is one way a free site builder can give himself an edge over others, but the grammar has to be good.

ronnie 2005-02-18 08:55 AM

I see a number of really bad english/grammer(worst than mine). Thing is, it is usually carries over on the site, the text and writing making little or no sense. It's hard enough getting surfers to click with well written text, I doubt these sites will make any money and soon dissappear. Most times those just get deleted.

One thing that bugs me, is when they put the description in the comments box also.

My submit form does not even have a place for a description.

I just write my own bad descriptions. :D

Yeah baby |thumb

Also, describing the sponsor and not the site submitted usually has me pulling the delete trigger without looking at the site.

"Thousands of hot babes bla, bla bla".

And some wonder why we bother to submit when others can't be arsed to list ;)

I hope your descriptions make more sense than that reply or else DELTETED.

hazel 2005-02-18 05:35 PM

DELTETED. Hmm. Is that an American descriptive noun?

What it meant was: If you have so many submits to review that you can't be bothered to include them all, then why do we want to bother trying to get listed?

Doesn't make sense to sub them if they just get DELTETED for the sake of it, does it?

Well then, don't submit. Seems simple enough. Do you really think that I delete submissions just for the sake of deleting them, as if it is some sort of passive-aggressive power trip? If the gallery/site is shit, it gets rejected. If the submitter can't put 5-10 words in a string and create a sensible description of the gallery/site they built, it gets rejected.

You should go and seek the sites that accept every single submission, no matter their lack of quality, and submit only to them. Good luck.

docholly 2005-02-18 08:56 PM

I write my own.. uh sometimes they are quite off the wall.. Like OMG do you think she could have combed that hair before she posed? or something equally silly.. or when some 140lb chic is trying to be passed off as a bbw.. Man she can't even pinch an inch.. etc etc..

it's one of the few pleasures i reserve for myself in life.

hazel 2005-02-18 11:54 PM

Well, Useless Warrior, without getting into a flame war let me just say that there are two reasons why I don't bother with TGP submits:

1. The chances of getting listed at a site with a worthwhile amount of traffic is close to none

2. TGP traffic is just so much crap with 1:100,000 ratios

Think I'll just stick to LL description writing - in English

Good luck with your stuff
