Eastenders

Does anyone know if the TV show "Eastenders" can be found online someplace? My wife loves it and BBC America stopped showing it. So, she is forced to watch it on PBS where it is 4 years behind.

Either online or a good UK friend that is willing to copy it and either put it online for her or send it to her at no cost to you :)

SmithsMedia 2005-03-03 11:10 AM

If you really want it I can copy it and send you it - Our lass works for the BBC she manages the studio in our area I can see if they ship it.

The best way I can record it is on VHS - If I copy it on a sunday you get the the week in one sitting not sure how that lays back out there.

The programme really sucks right now - http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/ (their home page)

they nearly took it off air as they have no story lines.

I know the BBC are looking to put all their programmes online as part of the BBCi Project - I have details on my local hub www.hullwhitepages.co.uk but as it state owned its not moving at a rapid rate.

As I say if you want me to I can get it wacked onto VHS I dont have a DVD Recorder nor the skills to do VHS to PC -

Hope this helps

BTW Den is Dead - His missus Killed Him.

Have you got a PAL video player Jim?
Because I thought most American players were NTSC.

Jim 2005-03-03 12:40 PM

No I don't urb..
But, I am willing to buy someone a DVD recorder :)

Will the tape work in the US?

Jim 2005-03-03 12:41 PM

Oh yeah, she reads the website all the time. But, it's not quite the same.

Greenguy 2005-03-03 02:06 PM

This thread is very sad.

Jim 2005-03-03 02:07 PM

I see, I try to do something nice for my lovely wife and you find it sad. Thats nice

Greenguy 2005-03-03 02:11 PM

Actually, I'll take back my statement, as I had to tape WWF's RAW & Smackdown every week for Boobs who lives over in Australia - that was a lot of fun :D

No I dont think so mate - I think you are on different format as someone says.

zack2004 2005-03-03 06:12 PM

Is that show still on? Next you will be asking them to send you the latest Dr. Who tapes.

Jim 2005-03-03 06:16 PM

I get Dr Who :)

zack2004 2005-03-03 06:37 PM

Do you still get Mrs Peel from the Avengers? |assfuck|

ecchi 2005-03-04 04:29 AM

RE-"I get Dr Who" Only the repeats. Most of the world starts getting the new series in a few weeks, but no US company has bought it yet.

I am so glad I do not live in the US.

urb 2005-03-04 06:04 AM

I think UK videos work on PAL screen format, 25 frames per second. But US videos work on NTSC, 30 frames per second. So you would need the same video format at each end.

Or use DVD which brings you into another geographical format problem.

US = Zone 1
UK = Zone 2
AU = Zone 4

Jel 2005-03-04 06:12 AM

The UK tape won't work on a standard US VHS unless you have a dual standard player. As urb said, US standard is NTSC, UK standard is PAL I. Also, you need to make sure your DVD player is region free to be able to watch DVD-R, and you need to check into the type of DVD you record onto, as some will only play on certain machines, regardless of what DVD player you have. Nochex, have a word with the triads who run around selling the hookey DVDs for a fiver each, their copies work on just about any DVD player :)
Don't forget the sound format as well, you may end up with a perfect picture but no sound.

Jel 2005-03-04 06:23 AM

btw I have heard http://www.holersoft.net/tv.htm gives you the opportunity to watch up to date Eastenders online
Channel list: http://www.holersoft.net/channellist.htm apparently it is on UK - BBC(78K)
They do a demo version, so you should be able to check it out before you buy it.
BTW this is what I have read on the web, I know no-one personally who has used it, so it might be worth saving the necessaries to disc and trying on a not-critical machine :D

http://www.eeworldwide.com/

"EastEnders Worldwide
Bringing the latest episodes to the internet in Realmedia format - 4 times a week"

Looks promising. But I don't have Real Player installed so I can't check and see if it's the actual episodes in the file list.

Jim 2005-03-04 07:46 AM

Nice Swedguy, thanks :)

Jim 2005-03-04 05:27 PM

My wife went to the site Swedguy and has been watching all day. She donated money and is begging the guy for archives. She says it's tough to skip 4 years and know what is going on.

I am supposed to ask, where is Phil?

urb 2005-03-04 05:29 PM

Phil Mitchell currently is supposed to be in South America
with Grant. Leaving his sister Sam to look after the businesses.

He escaped the UK after Dirty Den set him up for armed robbery.
