Switched to Firefox and Thunderbird...FUCK YEAH!

Well, as I've said in a couple other threads recently my machine was PMSing for the last several days, and all MS related programs crashed when trying to connect to the internet, including IE and Outlook. All repair attempts failed miserably so I resigned myself to the dreaded windows reinstall.

Since I didn't have the 6 hours I needed to properly backup everything and reinstall windows (and I had many mainstream business emails trapped in limbo) I tried some other browsers and email programs to see if anything could get the job done.

Opera and Eudora shit themselves, but Firefox and Thunderbird worked without a single hiccup.

I am now officially a Mozilla guy, and I feel like an ass for not switching over sooner. For anyone considering the move who hasn't yet, I'm here to tell you that the functionality and features of Firefox beat the living shit out of IE, and now that there's an SEO plugin that shows PR you have no excuses. Just do it and you'll thank yourself.

Once you go Mozilla, you never go back(zilla). I'm so cheesy.

Here's a Firefox speed tweak:

I've been using mozilla for over a year to review galleries. While it is not bulletproof it is much less likley to crash when some asshole (or as Jim would say "cocksucker") throws a bunch of crap from his gallery. I'm sure that as Mozilla and Firefox gain in market share the code writers will come up with something for these browsers.
The only way to be really safe is to get a system that is giving up market share like the proprietary POS apple (3.48 percent market share) that nobody except desktop publishers and graphic artist use ,sometimes called "computer challanged" (sorry Cleo!).
All these spyware, parasites, adware and virus programs are written to get the best bang for the buck. Why bother with MAC when you can get 90% if you write for IE and Micro$oft!

A little hostility there. Have you thought of maybe going to some anger management classes? You should be the first to write a Mac virus and become famous. BTW MAC is the acronym for Media Access Control which is the unique identifier of a networking card. Mac is the *nix based computer for the rest of us that is all but bullet proof to hackers and spyware and pretty fun to use.

Yeah I don't know why anyone would still use a browser without tabs and popup blocker.

I still prefer Mozilla over Firefox, not that there is much of a difference.

I'm sure that Steve Jobs was thinking of a sublayer of level 2 of the OSI model when he thought of his new computer. Strange that apple used appletalk and localtalk, only latter going to ethertalk (how much does the guy who comes up with these names make?). Like Micro$oft Apple got most of its GUI and mouse ideas from Xerox, who also pioneered ethernet (invented in the 70's by Robert Metcalf at Xerox) and still gets money for every MAC address issued. Just some history |dizzy|

I thought this thread was about Firefox.

Thanks for the speed boost Joe...I was a little annoyed at the time it was taking for graphics to download but now everythings smooth....

Lunatic 2005-03-14 08:01 PM

Yeah, that speed boost works great. :) Downloads multiple image pages much faster.

you will begin to love thunderbird just as much as firefox once the junk filter has adapted to your needs. I get no mroe than 1 spam mail in my inbox per day out of the 3-400 emails I receive.

I've been with mozilla for about 4 months now and ill never go back.
fuck ie and fuck outlook
